help/ opinions with salvaged title
Alright well ive done my reaserch and searched around the forum for some threads on a salvaged title. Ive got a few opinions but nothing that really helps me out in my situation.
Someone replied to my wnat to buy thread in my local listings for a g35 coupe.
i was offered a with summer and winter rims 2005 g35 coupe black on black with 115,000 KILOMETERS not miles. for 12k the owner said he paid 14k for it int he summer (hes selling becuase of his long comute from burlington to windsor)
i ran a carfax report and aparently no airbags were deployed and there was no frame damage. carfax also said "Accident reported
Involving left rear impact
Vehicle ran off road
Right rear damage reported"
I was told it was a new door though. and going by what the current owner said and by what carfax said he baught it off the person who baught it from whoever repaired the salvaged car. So the current owner does not know much about the car.
So i guess my real question here is should i even bother with this car or should i make an apointment at the infiniti delaership and get them to go over it? Or should i save my money from the apointment and just avoid the car all together?

imo, you should always get the car inspected regardless if it has a salvaged title or not. Used car sales are typically sold "as is", and you will not have any recourse should unexpected surprises pop up. With that said, I would never purchase a salvaged car...it may be cheaper up front, but it the long run it will likely end up costing you..
I would say stay away from salvage, I have never really liked the thought of having a car that has been rebuilt because the damage exceeded x amount of the value of the car. To each his own I guess though. If it is a good deal and you are comfortable with it.
Yea If I was serious about buying it I was going to have it inspected. But I was wondering if this one was even worth my time.
Also. He told me he didn't list the car (he found me with my wtb add in a local kijiji/ craigslist) he said if he gets the money for it he will sell it because its a gass guzzler. But if not he said he'll just keep it. He's also selling certified and etested.

IF the repair was done correctly, a salvage is only worth about 75% vs the same car w/o the salvage. It also affects how you can insure and if it's totalled, you get less in the payout. Or if you sell it again, you're only going to get what a salvaged used G coupe is worth to someone else.

A salvage title makes a car worth not much more than half of retail book value. If you buy it, it'll be yours until you pretty much give it away. It could be fine as a driver, but only bite if resale value down the road means absolutely nothing to you.
Yea. Because I'm not sure how long I could possibly have this car. But as nice as it was I think I might just steer clear of this one and keep my out. I just need a car asap. I hate public transportation.
