2008 G35 or 2009 G37

So I will be buying my very first car on my own and I want to make sure I buy the best one for me. I have been looking between buying an Infiniti G or a Lexus IS250 and ultimately I have decided to go with the G due to looks (exterior, interior) and size. Performance is not a huge thing for me even though my friends say that once you drive a powerful car you will never feel the same driving anything less.

Can you G owners shed some light on which route to take?

Ive been looking on AutoTrader and I've seen 2008 G35's with ~60-80 KM that go for ~$24g's give or take a thousand or two. Is this the market price? Seems fairly good for such a highly reviewed car. Then I see 2009 G37's for a little higher than that at 26g's +. I've even seen some G37's for less than G35's and the description says there have been no accidents and there are car proofs to prove it. Now I am not entirely sure if accidents paid in cash are viewable or can be traced using CarFax or any of those car proof verification systems.

And if any of you had purchased a G35 this year can you provide the experience in terms of gas expenses and regular maintenance prices? What kind of maintenance do you have to provide it? How often and how pricey is it?

Thanks in advance.

I would honestly go with the g35. The price sounds about right but you could prolly bump it down for around 21.5 - 22. The 08 g35 is the last of its model so its pretty polished as far as problems go and you can use your extra cash you saved on your car or save it for omg the car is what maintenance. But the gas regardless of either, is gona be the same (pretty expensive) using premium but I believe the g35 get slightly better MPG. The big maintenance issues with infiniti is quite expensive so make sure you look into what warranty is provided but the regular is not much difference in price with other similar cars.

I paid 24k for an 08 with under 30k miles and the elite cpo warrantee until 2016. Sorry sounds a little high.....sedan by the way. I spent 6 months looking. I prefer the 5 speed over 7 speed AT

All else being equal, a 37 with the 7AT will yield you between 3-4 mpg better than the 35 with 5AT. Others have been able to eke out a bit more.

Depending on how many miles/km you drive, calculate how much that'll save you in the long run. It could be it's enough to zero out the advantage of getting a 35 that costs a thousand or so less up front.

As much as i love the 35 (and the stellar 5AT), the 37 is a bit better and will likely yield better resale value.

Again, if cost of ownership ends up being equal, the 37 is pretty much a no-brainer. Maintenance is no different between vehicles.
