2003 g35 help.

So im buying my first car and i'm considering buying a 2003 infiniti g35. it has around 161km's on it and hes looking for around $8000. I've never bought a used car or any car for that matter so im in need of advice. Where should I get the car checked out? what if he doesn't let me check it out. Is 8000 to high of a price? are g35's really expensive to maintain? I know i have a lot of questions but you guys seem to know your stuff.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a 2006 G35 coupe with 75k miles for $14000... so I would say $8000 is not bad at all for 100k miles.

I can't really say much about maintenance as of now since I just bought the car like 3 days ago!

Do some homework and find a good Nissan/Infiniti mechanic close to you. Have him check out the car for you. If he finds minor stuff you can consider or negotiate the price. If he finds something major, it could save you from buying into a problem vehicle.

even non-Nissan specific shops should be able to evaluate a vehicle and tell you if it's been in an accident. most states have a safety inspection that is mandatory, you could start there, having that done at a shop. that'll tell you about tire, brake, safety component etc condition. you can also ask the tech his general opinion and if he saw anything else to be concerned about. if you're serious about the car you could split it w/ the seller so that he'll have it for future buyers.

if he won't let you check it out (meaning he won't take it to a shop for you and let you pay to get it checked out), that should be a red flag. you should at least take it for an extended test drive (30 min) to make sure it drives well/no sounds from transmission or engine.
