Looking at an 06 - thoughts?

Hello from Cleveland OH! Considering purchasing my first G. Have always wanted one and now that my other 2 cars are paid for it might be the right time.

Found an 06 mt on CL. 49k miles The car has Stillen headers, race cats and Stillen catback exhaust with titanium tips. It also has an Osiris ECU with cable and K&N filter. Owner says check engine light is on but its an interface issue with the ECU that can be corrected. Seller is 3rd owner and says last year was first time it was driven in the winter. He's asking $16,500 and bank has the title.

Would you buy this car if it checks out? Anything in particular i should look for.

Have him fix the ECU issue, you don't want anything popping up on the dash. Get a FAX report, make sure it's not a bone yard rebuild. Everything clears, go for it....Gary

Thanks guys. Do the stillen headers tend to seal up good to the head or are leaks common?

Yea he said he would reprogram the ECU to get the light off. After inspect it and look for any signs of being in an accident i will run the carfax. When i bought my trailblazer ss carfax was clean and i figured out a few months later it had been in a wreck so i know what to look for now. I

I'd have that code read before he erases it to see what issue it's pointing to. Could be a bunch of things wrong there.

I drive a 2006 with 89000 miles and it runs like new! If the ECU is tuned and the codes are fixed then you have yourself one hell of a deal! I am running Stillen Exhaust on mine and was looking at Stillen headers for the near future, if you do end up getting the car, I would love to hear a sound clip of what the full Stillen exhaust soundsl like!

I would definitely Fax report, and get him to fix the ECU problem.

I have Stillen headers on my 06 as well. No problems at all with leaking. I did have CEL's for both primary O2 sensors after the install. After a UpRev tune it cleared it right up. Tuner said the new exhaust flow characteristics wasn't making them happy. He did a little tweaking and no more issues what so ever.

As others have said have him figure it out before you buy it and have it fixed. Nothing more annoying then a SES light on the dash!

thanks for chiming in guys this helps me understand. i talked to him tonight and he said the CEL came on because he replaced the 02 sensors without disconnecting the battery a couple weeks ago (i have no clue if that is legit). The last time i talked to him earlier this week the CEL was on but now it is off and has been off for the last 5 days. He said " just for good measure" he is having a new program mapped for the car. In an email i asked for the actual code it read but he didn't give a direct answer.

The 17" are winter tires and wheels the 19 are for summer. His daily driver broke down over the winter so he got the 17's
