common problems on 05-06 g35x?
Looking to buy a 05-06 g35x and wondering if there are any known issues
with these years model. How reliable are they?
Was initially looking for an 01-05 bmw 330xi and found out about all there issues; window regulators, valve cover and oil filter housing leaks, cooling system often needing an overhaul,
vanos seals, front end needing attention, shocks mounts, sensors, etc.. most of them being easy diy but I am starting to lean more towards buying an infiniti.

I almost bought a xi until l drove my 05X! I have no info for you on problems with the x series.Mine was maintained by infiniti since new! I bought her with 84,660 on the clock.Runs and handles great! I was a audi quattro owner before the X. Audi very high maintenence car! Check the vin with carfax to see the history of your future purchase .
Reliability, from my experience, has been above average. The 05-06 RWD models received the RevUp engine, that is known to have issues. The 04-06 AWD models did not receive the RevUp engine and historically have not experienced the same issues.
Right Front axles tend to have the boot rip at the CV joint because this axle is shorter and experiences more articulation = higher wear on the rubber boot. Other than that, not many major issues.
On a side note, I had a 05 325xi and it was expensive to fix and not a very sporty ride. Alot of sacrifices for a mediocre AWD system.

I had my tires rotated and while it was on the rack l checked her out.l dont have any tears in the boots ! That was the first thing l checked. No leaks everything looked great! Only problem it had was heatshield rattle. Fixed that. I like awd cars. They just seem to corner great to me.Rwd or awd no fwd for me!
I've had my '06x since virtually new.
All maintainence done myself. Non-typical repairs I've done:
two front wheel bearings at 75K
Cat convert heat shields broken causing rattles (fixed with clamps)
rear muffler flange rotted out
3rd brake light failure
1 rear caliper seized
Other than that, just fluid changes and flushes. I have 130K miles now

ive owned my 05x since 2009, common issues are middle tail light burnout, caliper freezing, control arm bushing wear, and the midpipe/muffler flange rot. and the front wheel bearings will go out eventually...for me it was 75k. youll go through the "normal" replacements like belts, brakes, and so on a faster than you would something like a subaru but if you do the work yourself its nothing thatll set you back. If you have the luxury package with the gps the motor for the display died on mine and ive heard it happens but i never use it anyways. but all and all i havnt had any major failures/issues.
