Need help evaluating sell price of my G
Hey folks,
I'm looking to sell my G, and would appreciate your thoughts on a good sale price. Currently estimating 4k but that could be way off. Here are the vitals:
2005 G35x Sedan (Midnight Blue w/ Spoiler)
-Bose audio, Navi, Moonroof, Power seats/windows
-Engine and transmission are in great shape, oil replaced at 4k without fail.
130,000 Miles
Tires have ~20k left on them
Brakes/Rotors were replaced 20k ago
Bigger gripes:
-At least 1 wheel bearing needs to be replaced, it's audible.
-Struts and Shocks are at the end of their life
-Kickplate is starting to come loose near the front, half the bolts are shorn off. Nothing drags, but you can see a hint of sagging.
Cosmetic gripes:
3-inch scratch on one QP
Gloss coat of paint coming off a 8" diameter patch on roof panel
Fiberglass trim below rear bumper has a 5-inch crack in it

I've looked at the blue book value for my car, I'm coming here for a second opinion.
For reference, here are the estimates:
Excellent - $7,879
Very Good - $7,479
Good - $7,204
Fair - $6,379
I'd put the car in the "Fair" category mostly due to the struts/shocks and bearing(s), but that's an amateur opinion.
Also, I've been dissuaded from using the KBB values as a good measure in the past, with claims that they tend to over-estimate the cost of the vehicle. Thoughts?

It is definitely worth more then the above are preaching. I had a G sedan in the EXACT condition and when it was totalled it fetched 12.5k.
Maybe I just got lucky, but i think your G on the private market should fetch 8-9K considering the paint blemishes (what car this old does not have them).

NADA is the one that most reputable dealers use. KBB is consistently lower.
I have an '06X with 130K miles. Fully loaded, with Navi, and well maintained. I've been fishing around for a new G37x and almost traded it in. I was offered $7500 for trade-in value. One dealer worked up to $8K.
$4K is selling yourself way short even with the issues. Someone would be getting a deal at $4K.
I'd at least try for $7-8K and work down from there.

Can you fix any of the issues?
The things you list aren't necessarily high $$$. If you can do the work yourself, investing $500 or so could potentially give you a slightly higher selling price. The wheel bearing will be noticable so that's one I would invest in fixing. DIY might run $200 in parts. More if oyu have to pay for labor. Not a beginners job unfortunately, but if you have any DIY experiences it could be done.
Rear shocks are cheap from rockauto. Rears are maybe $30 each.
Up to you really what you want to do, but picture yourself a buyer. Most tend to look at tires and brakes, and noises while driving. So the wheel bearing might be something that might turn people off.
