Need Help Deciding - 2003.5 G35 sedan

I am in the market looking for a G35. I really just need a point A-B Car so high mileage isn't a big deal to me. I found one but i am kinda questionable about it after getting the car fax.

2003.5 G35 sedan
156,000Miles
6 Speed, aero pkg, suspension pkg, leather seats, sunroof, 5 spoke wheels, etc.
The carfax shows it was in a collision in the rear but was minor and that it was used as a rental car although I dont see any mileage added at that point.
I found out the timing belt, water pump and all that have been replaced recently along with the clutch. I haven't seen the car in person but I was going to see "the experts" (you guys) opinion on it. They are wanting $6,000 for the car and KBB says thats a good deal. So What do ya'll think?

If I were you I'd honestly keep searching. The fact that it was used as a rental is a huge turn off. The G35 is a great car, hopefully you find the right one to call your own.

Yeah, I am taking my infiniti mechanic up there to evaluate it but that was one of my main concerns. I really want it for the 6 speed, although if it has been dogged for some time I dont wanna invest the money in it.

Rental car, and 6-spd? That car was beat on heavily.

If you saw what I did to a Shelby GT-H Hertz rental, you'd pass on buying a rental car

So what problems do the 03-04 models have?i have found a bunch that are in my price range but it seems everyone leans towards the 05-06 models.

Off the top of my head:

2003 radio board issue causes the HVAC and radio to randomly fail to work

Possible issues that may affect all 2003-2006(2007 coupe) G35's

Front compresson rod rattle
wheel bearings
interior rattles
door rust issues
heavy dusting on 03/04 brakes
seat motor gear stripping

Prob a few ones i'm missing.

In general, the G35 is fairly reliable, but the later models did get a boost in reliability due to "working out the kinks" so to speak. Not a whole lot changed, so don't feel like you need to avoid a 2003 model. One of the biggest issues with 2003 however is the HVAC/Radio circuit board issue. Plenty of guys with 2003's experience this.

Ok, well those arn't really all that bad and unfixable. Well since the dealership I've been talking to is a hour and a half away, I am having them take the car to a dealership and have the whole car inspected and checked.
