Infiniti paint does have a reputation for being a bit soft. That's why a lot of scratches and chips will show, especially in black.
Def consider a clay bar followed by a lot of wax to help protect the paint in the future.

Black is always the toughest to keep right especially since its been neglected. Mine is silver and under the right light probably had the same amount of swirls and light clearcoat scratches as yours...just not as noticeable
.
I spent a good part of the day getting it right. Good idea to keep the buffing to the pros if you haven't done it much. You can cut the clear on the corner or edges in a heartbeat.
Mine came out beautiful doing the following. Since it's black you, or the detailer, need to do both these buffing stages to get rid of all the swirls. If you don't ask they won't do this process since it is more time consuming....more expensive too
- I actually spend the time on nice cars to blue tape all the edges, trim, moldings, emblems and cover the windows and holes with towels. It will take an hour or so but will save you 2 or more hours in the end trying to get out all the compound and wax with rags and brushes....and thats's the last thing you want to do after you polish for hours! It feels so good to peel the tape, rinse it off and go!
- Clay bar it like you are
- Heavy duty rubbing compound and wool pad - (I prefer 3M compounds)
- Polishing compound with foam pad for final swirl removal and shine (something like Finesse-it - comes in dark color choice too)
- Wax of your choice.
Since it is black you should strongly consider the dark colors waxes. If you use the standard wax the front bumper will look terrible with all the rock chips.
You will be shocked how good you can get it to look!! Good luck!!! Nice car
