G35 or Genesis?

Hey there, new to this site. Sorry if I am posting in the wrong thread.

Recently, a friend is asking me if I would like to trade my truck for his 2003 G35. The g35 has new racing headers that are not installed yet. It is the sport package with the brembo brakes, and looks like a nice vehicle. I have been doing a lot of research, but now someone has approached me wanting to trade his 2010 Genesis 2.0t with a 3" down pipe and blow off valves. Now, I am sort of new to the whole subject, and I know this is a g35 forum, but what would be the better decision?

how many miles does each car have? and i think it costs over 500$+ to install headers on a g35. so if he adds them first, before sale then that'd be better in your favor.

also i just looked up the 0-60 for a genesis 2.0 and its 6.9 sec LOL. so not that fast of a car.
g35 is around 5.5 sec

OP, look up the value for the 0G and genesis on KBB. I would assume that the genesis is higher....I would factor that in when deciding, also consider the value of your truck.

The better decision would be the car with the least amount of miles. Their 0-60 times do not matter. I personally think the genesis looks and feels cheap..or at least cheaper than a G

Comes down to what car has the least miles and in better shape and overall what you like better.

Also sell the headers should you buy the G. Not worth it

Headers wont be worth it as everyone says, unless if he installs in before selling it to you, then it's a different story.

Depends on your needs in this case. The 03' interior will be looking very outdated compared to the Genesis, but assuming it's running strong, it'll probably be a better drive than the genesis.
Mileage is a big factor too, give them both a test drive and see what you like. Right now I'm having a biased for the Genesis just cause it's newer.

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies.
both vehicles are in good shape, but the G has over double the kms as the gen. The gen has 60,000 while the G has 150,000. But also, I find the Genesis does look and feel a bit cheap and as you guys mentioned, does not really have the juice that I am really interested in.. Would I be stupid to take the g35 though? Is that to many km?

Just think about this: the genesis is 7 years newer and worth a similar amount as the older G. That should say something about the value of the Hyundai. Its a POS.

The 2010 Genesis is already having paint and interior problems, and the 2.0T is absolute garbage. If its not even a 3.8 track, this shouldnt even be a conversation. Plus its a Hyundai.

The G took a big hit in value too. I dont think its necessarily quality that drives values down.

Reputation of quality does tho, and Hyundai just isn't known for reliability. Those two cars (depending on condition, so that's a variable) literally have the same blue book value despite a 7 year difference in age. That says a lot.

For instance when my car was 7 years old and had 80k miles, (last time I checked) the blue book was $20k. That doesn't happen by accident.

EDIT:
Not to mention that one day the there will be a collector market for the G. No one will ever be collecting Hyundais.

Heh! The G will be the next 240sx. It wont quite make Supra/RX7 status.

Rychess, if you'd seriously consider buying a Korean POS you don't know squat about cars! There's a very good reason they were the first company to advertise 100K mile warranties, that's the only way anyone would buy one!

Is the Genesis even paid off yet? It's 4 years old. Does the guy have title in hand or is he looking for you to assume payments and/or the balance?

Also...he's looking to trade a 4-year old car for an 11 year old car with 150K miles on it? That makes no sense.

What is your truck worth? As far as fairness goes financially, which is worth more? Perhaps take the Gen, turn around and sell it for profit to some H.S. kid that drools at the little T on the back emblem then buy yourself a better/newer G
