Need help deciding between two G35

Hi All,
New to the forum but I am definitely buying at G35 Coupe in the next two weeks. I have done my research and have found two cars that meet my criteria.

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/d...822627894.html

This car has upgraded rims(with decent bit of curb rash), an intake, and an aux cable. recently replaced ceramic breaks and slotted rotors. the clutch was replaced about 10k ago. Seat tear is small and there is about a 3 inch dent in the rear quarter panel with some scrapes. The car looks clean from afar, but of course being black you see all the imperfections as you get closer. I have gotten him down to $12,000.

and

an 06 5AT red coupe with 62k miles for $11,600. This car is ridiculously clean with minimal scratches, no seat tear, intelligent key option, and OEM rays. This car is completely stock and has had no mods. Only current issue is it needs a break job.

I'm torn because the Black on black is exactly what I want aesthetically as well as having some modifications that I would like, but I feel like the red 06 is a better car.

I would just like your guys input. Before you say "Go with the manual!!!" I live in Washington DC where traffic is horrendous and I don't want to spend all day shifting, so getting a manual isn't a big factor to me. Thanks

I like the black one. Not sure what blue book is or how good the price is, but 75k miles is low. Either seems like a great car being mostly stock, low miles, clean body. However I like dark colors and manuals.

P.S. Welcome to the forum!

Uhh, the red one, no question. You don't want some bodies failed project. The 06 is cheaper, less miles, better condition..sheeit, the only thing that sucks about the second one is the color, but I've seen a few red ones done right.

Besides, black is better than red if the paint is of equal wear. That black paint looks like **** tho.

EDIT: just re-read that the black is 6spd and the red is auto. That would be the major decision for me. I couldn't drive an auto in a car like this.

Yea for me I'm not big on red cars, but my gut feels like its the more logical choice in my mind. First thing would be to black vinyl wrap the roof to break up the color.

The auto vs manual isn't a deal-breaker for me because living in the DC area, traffic is terrible, and I'm honestly not the best manual driver yet. Call it blasphemous, but I'm fine using triptronic to have a little fun.

If you're down with the auto, then that's hands down the better car.

But yeah, it helps tremendously to put a (very) light tint on the tail lights. I would normally not suggest this on any other color, but it looks so bad how the lights are a slightly different red than the car. You do that, and you'd be surprised how much better it looks.

No brainer, the red one. Because its stock stock stock...
Ive walked away from many many g35's before finding the right one. It may look all nice and cool cause its upgraded but you really don't want somebody else's project/headaches along with an abused car. In my mind, as soon as i saw any engine upgrades, including an intake, i walked away, just more reason to believe the reason its there is cause the person who owns it drives the car hard.

The black looks nice! But if the red looks like the best of the 2 get red! If it has no tears in the leather thats great! Once they rip or tear it only gets worse! My 05X is perfect no tears or bad seams! Are both cars private sale?

Thanks all for the input so far. I was also worried with the black one having the clutch replaced at 60k miles now that you mention about it being driven hard.

Yes both cars are private sales.

Any other color combos you guys think look nice for a red g35 other than blacking out the usual items?

Was gonna say definitely go for the 6MT but congrats on the purchase. You should install a Trans-Go valve body shift kit. Worth every penny!!!

It makes shifting "faster" but anticipation is everything. You don't need it. Consider a drain and fill on the transmission before all else.

i was going to suggest the red one as well.

I'm going to change my opinion on ceramic brakes on a G35. I said a long time ago no difference than OEM pads....except now I notice they are eating the crap out of my rotors at over 50% life left on the pad. never again.
