Probably about 2 hours worth at a reasonable Nissan shop.

+1. I've driven HR loaners and they're definitely faster, both from standing start and at speed. Especially at speed. I was surprised at the acceleration in reserve at interstate speeds. But the road feel in the HRs is inferior to the first gen IMO.

Carfax shows good service history until 75k miles, then it wasn't serviced as often(owner says he did work himself) The only catch is the muffler/resonator were taken off, it has 6 owners and the previous owner is a 17 year old kid, he got it as his first car and says he took care of it with his dad. Only owned it for a year and put less than 10k miles on it. I am going to take it to a mechanic and see if they find anything. Is it worth buying it if no issues come up? I have looked at a few other G35s and surprisingly this one drives and looks the best. I am mainly worried that the kid beat on the car causing premature engine wear. However, as I said - this car feels better than the other ones I have looked at.
Heart attack chance with it

I have a 2004 G35... (orig owner; auto; perf package and NAV; sunroof etc) done some repairs like power window motor, AC compressor, front struts, intake plenum, crank sensors. But I have driven it to SF from LA and back about 15 times. Really just kept the oil changed religiously. 140k.. it's currently leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold (I think the valve cover gaskets need replacement); front hood has pantena'd a bit (but it's like a crappy looking sleeper now 😂; still handles well and accelerates off the line well). I have no complaints about this car. Still fun as hell to drive. I am actually thinking of doing a little resto on it (have a few body repairs and valve covers re-done; and have plugs changed while they are at it) and driving it for another couple years; or maybe not; thinking about a QX (but don't like those front hood ridges; looks rather odd) or a Lexus NX. I bought this G35 new because I liked the way it drove and the look seemed timeless (just the other day some lady said she loved the body lines &#128518. Oh and needs new headlights (yellowed over time so I have to re-polish them often; but it's aged well over 20 years).
