Question Help Me PLEASE ASAP!!

Hello I have a 2004 silver 6mt, but live in NY and can not drive it in the winter here. I am planning on buying a jeep grand cherokee, but the seller is being shady. He wants to sell it on www.holdyourcar.com. I have to put money in an account and if i decided to buy it, it uses this site as a third party to agree to terms. The VIN number is 1J4GW58N82C283303. Can anyone send me a carfax on this so i can see if the name matches up? Also can anyone verify this site? I am thinking of buying this truck Monday, but do not want to get scammed.
IS THIS LEGIT?

I would not do it for two reasons.
1. Sounds like a scam. If I was not 100% sure it was not a scam I would not purchase.
2. Do you know how many problems are associated with the Cherokee? Yikes.

Good Luck, but be very cautious.

P.S. You should invest $9.99 in buying the Consumer Reports Used car guide. It will give you a list of the best vehicles to buy in your price range. That $9.99 could save you lots of money.

If you buy a G.... get the snow tires and drive, after all thats why we bought these cars to Drive... 23,000 miles and still not a year old..
Last winter ( Boston) we had tons of snow... Blizzaks worked great, never got stuck !!!

Snow

Looked around, searched, didn't rush, and found 4 oem 18s with snow tires for less than $700. Tires look almost like brand new. Wheels are not in the best condition, but for winter.... I don't care.

Best meaning most reliable vehicle history. CR Best Bets.
They also have Worst bets, cars that have a consitent history of poor reliability(Cherokee).

Fella, don't be dumping on my "other" ride, '97 Jeep Cherokee, 90K miles and
no issues other than normal wear & tear.

Not trying to offend anyone, just stating the facts. You must be a lucky one. I have read many many many things about the poor reliability of the Cherokee. I know 4 people that own them and have problems as well. Just trying to help the guy out not trying to offend you.

Are you asking people who may just so happen to have a carfax account to do it (so you can get it for free), or do you simply don't know how to do it yourself? As for the third party "escrow" thing, most online ones have been scams, so I would stay away from them. If you really want to use an escrow service, check with your local bank. Most will offer such a service (for a small fee).

I don't think there is much of a difference, but I do have a friend that had an older regular Cherokee and he says the Grand Cherokee's are worse.

carfax = does not give owner's name. you have to go to your local DMV. good luck. 3rd party terms and conditions = scam. overseas = scam. but if you really want a carfax you can email jinetix@gmail.com or aemrealestate@yahoo.com and request one, they are g35driver members with current carfax accounts. you can also donate a few dollars to them if you like.

what you should do is see what bank he has, for example, if he has wells fargo, but you have boa or wamu. be smart and open up a wells fargo checking/bank account. and when u do the purchase transaction, do it at the bank where they can verify the amount of money in his bank account and transfer it directly into yours without any holds. save the hassle and be SMRT!
