AT all the way! MM when you want to shift around, AT when you just don't want to bother with shifting.

Wrong. The only 12 sec NA G that I know of is an automatic - so AT is not *always* slower than MT. All you're doing by revving up past 4k is spinning the wheels. You can brake torque to 3k on an auto and spin out in MM. But not sure that'll give you a much faster launch time...

Like I said, it just takes time to train using the MM mode with a 5AT.

I kind of miss driving a manual, but after only driving a manual on a couple occasions the last 16 years, I felt it was too much of a risk buying a manual now. It being the car I drive almost every day, and all that

A new G35 is too expensive in my mind to gamble that, after a year, I'm sick and tired of a manual in traffic.

Too bad you can't just easily rent manuals when TDY so I could get it out of my system.

i have it and i dont regret it at all, some people with MT's regret later on getting that, both are fun with manumatic and stick, both are great

Manuals are all about the experience, pushing the clutch pedal, shift THROUGH the gears, not just tapping a button or in this case shifter, and just the feel as the shifter goes through the gates, it is irreplacable for me, I'll drive a manual rain, snow, sleet, hail, or heavy traffic, I just can't live without it. Also I've driven the G auto and I can shift faster with the 6mt.

I have an AT and like it. I had a Z 6MT. I have to admit I miss it alot. I think the AT is better in the snow because the engine doesn't bog out when I can't get any grip. I don't want to have to replace the clutch either.

I agree w/ 99% of your statements. But I do find it hard to believe you can actually perform a gear shift faster than this auto can. I suppose if you powershifted w/o the clutch, you might be able to do that. But if you are pushing the clutch in, moving the shift lever to the next gear and then lifting off the pedal, the auto can shift faster. And perform a pretty hard shift if you are @ WOT (ie.. full line pressure I assume)

There's a good reason why most high power drag cars use autos and not manuals.

Auto...no regrets.

Im already paying enough $$ for the car...it better shift for me.

hi guys, i'm on a verge of owning a G35 coupe soon...maybe in a month or two and i'm the type of person who would go with an automatic just because i'm from hawaii and traffic here is insane...i've never owned a manual car, but today i told my friend and he said I should go for a manual and he said It would be a "waste" getting a G35 in an automatic..i agree with him a way but im leaning towards auto but don;t want to regret later..hard to decide...what do you guys think?

I am getting an automatic because of my daily commute for work, and all my friends are telling me to get a manual. If you buy a car, go with what you want, not what your friends want you to have.

I live in the NYC metro area AND I drive a 6MT! It's the only way to do it, son!
