I own one, and I love it, but... it's not an investment. It is an entry-level luxury-sport sedan. The mileage sucks. 20mpg is not great. Replacement tires are expensive. The car wants premium fuel. You might get nailed by your insurance company with the "high-performance vehicle" penalty. You mentioned your parents, so I'll also mention that dealerships won't give you a loaner car if you're under 21 -- and even then, the loaners are only for service with 2 hours of labor or more. No loaner for brake jobs or oil changes.

On the other hand.. the car has a traction/stability control system that won't let you spin the car in the rain, 6 airbags, very good brakes with ABS and EBD, active headrests, etc.. basically "the works" in safety equipment. And it's a hoot to drive. I autocross my car. If you're in the market for a sport sedan, to me it's either this or the BMW 3-series, and this car is thousands cheaper.

I want to say the BMW 545 or is it now the 550i 6 spd, but it is just awful looking. That is it for the non exotics in a stick and I don't even know if the exotic sedans- Bentley, Massaratti, and that ilk, come in a stick. If you want an exotic in a stick, you might have to go with 2 doors. If I was to pick a car with an automatic trans, I probably would go for the Audi A8 in the S version because of all wheel drive. I'd stick snows on the 545/550 or move south with my millions if I hit the big one, err excuse me "when" I hit the big one.

The CLS has a very nice look but can get cramped as far as headroom is concerned in the back seat and there is nothing worse than a cramped multimillionaire.

I can't believe you did not say BMW M5, Why not?

This is the most powerful performance saloon ever produced. The numbers reveal the story: 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds (this is a luxury saloon, remember); a top speed of 155mph, as long as the speed limiter isn't bypassed though if it should happen to be, you'd be looking at something North of 200mph. This stellar performance is delivered by a 5-litre 10 cylinder engine which can rev in excess of 8,000 rpm and give you 507 brake horsepower should you be feeling brave enough to rise to the challenge. The engine also has variable valve timing and each of the 10 cylinders has its own electronically controlled..................

I agree the M5 has some impressive numbers. However, it is not the fastest or most powerful saloon. It looks like the MB S65 AMG holds those honors. 604 HP, 738 lb-ft, and 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. Personally I don't like the looks of either of those cars. I would take a CLS55 in a heart beat though. Check these bad boys out!

Actually, when I bought my first G35, my insurance dropped a lot from my Mustang GT Convertible, saved me a bunch, and as far as the loaners go, my dealership will loan it for anything, even just an oil change if you want, if you purchased the car there. So, some dealers do go the extra on that.

Oh, I'd keep my G, but I would buy a few other expensive cars, and a house with enough garage to park them in! (the house would definitely come first!)

Going from a Mustang GT.. yeah, I can see a drop. However, going from a 4-cyl Accord... my insurance went up a bit. My dealership doesn't go that extra mile.. they don't really have to. They own both Infiniti dealerships within a 100 miles of my place. I just change my own oil, it's less of a hassle.

BTW, if you're looking to buy a G35, and you want to know how your dealership is going to handle that situation.. make sure you go to the service dept. and talk to a service advisor. The salespeople may lie or may just flat not know the policy, and they'll make something up.

Well, the dealer here is the only one in the state.

The G has a 60K warranty at least the 05s and 04s do. For your sake I hope you do not own an 05 or 04 as it is sad not to know the warranty on your car.

You'd be surprised how many people don't have a clue to the warranty on their cars, sad!
