What makes the G better then other cars?

Hey guys I wanna start off my saying I do indeed know the G is the nicest car on the road, in my opinion at least. This december or sometime in the near future I am going to be looking seriously at getting one. Unfortunately Even if I cover some of the cost of the car my parents still feel it necessary to try and make the final decison on a new vehicle. The vehicle I own know was pushed on me by them and has been nothing but problems. Dont buy fords, especially explorers. So onto my question what are some attributes that would make my parents think that the G is a good car. I already know of the high resale value so thats a plus as my current car has depreciated significantly in the 1 yr I have owned it, and it also has had nostop tranny problems that ford says arent problems so I have to live with my auto car stalling out for no reason. What can I expect from the longevity of this car. I want the 6mt, I think that if this car could last for 7-10yrs that would make the initial investment worth it. Also what are the issues with mechanical problems? Thanks for the help, and I apologize for the lengthy post.

Aaron

Very good crash test rating, VDC which is traction and stability control. some of the best brakes in it's class and what ever you do, don't mention the 298 HP.

Has very good safety systems...I think it's basically the best bang for the buck. I would have preferred a new 3 series...especially after having owned the previous generation...but I went for savings and I love my G more every day. I think it's built solid. Yeah....there are a few squeaks...but nothing major. Good warranty. Great engine...has been voted as among the best engines in the industry for 10 years or so. Even the base model comes very well equipped (I don't even think it's possible to get it without the premium package...others may correct me on that). In my opinion, it's greatest asset is value. That's what I say is my biggest compliment. I chose this over the Acura TL because I got scared of some things I read on message boards about problems they have...but that's a good car, too. But I also enjoy the rear wheel drive and the weight proportion. Well...I hope this contributes...

It's fast, has 18" rims and has xenon. What else could a youngster like you want?

Besides the good brakes, abs, traction control, it also has a bunch of air bags. When referring to the motor, just say it has good passing power. That a safety feature IMO. When your car is being serviced, you get loaner cars. It's hard to say if the car will hold up for 7-10 years since it's only be in the US for a few years.

my insurance is lower on the G than my 2002 liberty which cost about 12k less due to all the safety features of the G. My jeep has ABS, airbags, and a bunch of other safety items also.

just a very good, all around car.

good luck

What things to say.

1. The brakes on the older models were among the best of any car out there. The 05 brakes are still among the best in its class and they last much longer now.
2. The car has plenty of room and all of the latest safety features. Heck one guy got T-boned at what he said was 50 mph and he walked away.
3. The traction control works well, it is not too obtrusive, and it can be defeated! Well don’t tell them about the defeated part.
4. It holds its value very well.
5. The 05s still look great even though the car is several years old now.
6. The G35 Sedan is about $8000 less than a comparable BMW 330i.

What things not to say but are things to think about.

1. The gas mileage can be horrible! I get between 16-18 MPG in the city when I drive it like it was designed to be driven. It is capable of getting 26+ mpg on the highway but I wouldn’t count on that.
2. Routine Maintenance costs can be high but almost all cars have high maintenance costs now. Well except for BMW who tells you it is free for 4 years. The truth is you are actually pre-paying about $6000 for the maintenance in the initial cost of the car.
3. The 6 speed is a very fast car that can get you to the legal speed limit very quickly! You will probably end up with 1 or more tickets with a G35. Cops in my area love to pull over this car for some reason. I have gotten stopped before for nothing at all.

Rear wheel drive and horse power make this car great. It has a pretty good warranty also. 6 year/60,000 mile

A base G is easy to find at a larger dealer. The only option I went with was a sunroof and was out the door for 31K. I think the G could easily be a 10-15 year car if you take care of it. I hope to get around 150-200K miles out of mine.

This all depends on where you live. I live in Miami and in order for me to find a base Diamond Graphite G35 6MT Sedan with sunroof, it had to be delivered from upstate. And I bought through Coconut Creek Infiniti- a very large dealer. The price also depends on where you live.

Anyway, kid, tell the folks that the engine and chassis speak for themselves. Nissan has been using this engine for many years and it sees use in most of the Nissan/Infiniti lineup. That equals quality. Safety features, ABS, VDC, yada yada yada...

Thanks

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it. Hopefully when the time comes they will see the importance of buying for the long term. I think that the fact that this is the only car I can see myself in will also make them see how much I want to take care of it and make it last. My older cars havent been so wonderful. I have only owned 2 cars before. A 1994 Toyota Corolla, this car was bone stock and had tranny problems that would have costed 5 times the worth of the car to fix. Now my exploer is also having tranny problems and ford service team sux. About the bad gas mileage I drive an explorer and if I only drive city I get avout 8mpg so if i can pull 16 city and maybe 22-24 highway I think ill be set. I can hardly pull 15-16 on all highway driving. But anyways thanks alot.

Like others said, the G is an amazing value. Base models are pretty loaded already. I picked up mine last month for $27.6K brand new. That's like $10K cheaper than a 330

The G is not the best car on the road, far from it, but it does represent excellent value and it is known for being very reliable. For 30K you can get a taste of life in the 50+K range and have less problems. If I hit the lottery my G will be toast, but for now its the best compromise out there.

Just curious, if you struck it rich what sedan would you replace your G with? Personally the only 4 door car I think I would trade in my G for is that Mercedes CLS. That is one spectacular car even with its spectacular price.
