financing %

Does buying a car outside your city factor into your credit approval? I am buying a 06' G35c from another city, and they told me that if I had bought it locally, then my % may have been lower. I saw that the financing came from a credit union in San Antonio, not even the city where the dealership is at. Altough I think I got a pretty good percentage, but is that true? I thought that a credit score is a credit score, no matter where you live.

I going to refinance locally here, but found that to be odd.

Have you considered looking around at local finance companies/your own credit union to finance the car locally off the bat?

Who is "they"? consider the source , when comes to money?dealership will tell you any and everything. Why would it make any difference to a lending company wheather you purchase it form next door or next State?

I don't see how it matters. The only difference might be that a local credit union might give you preferential treatment (e.g. The University of Texas Credit Union for UT staff and students). Otherwise, I don't see how it matters. I cross-shopped two places in Texas, one in Oklahoma, and one in Tennessee when I bought my car. All offered identical deals (within a few $$ thanks to different taxes in each state), all at the same 2.9% rate. This was in April of 2005.
