right car for me?

hi everyone, i'm soon to be 16 and ready to drive, my parents are willing to get me something under 25k if i took care of some of the payments and gas etc.

so would the g35 coupe be good choice for me?

also if not what cars would you suggest? I am a good student (lower insurance) and a responsible person(racing's not really my thing). However i would like to have a good car.

P. S i'm looking for a used but very reliable car (japanese?)

Save your parents a few bucks . . . Get a used Honda Civic and concentrate on your education.

IMHO if you are asking if thuis is the right car for you, it is not. you either know it is, or you dont. i agree with andy..get something that you can afford to beat up.

get a 4banger gas sucks! Look at a new 06 SI their price around $20,500, or maybe a used TSX. If you need a VQ I would look at a used 03 350Z, their cheaper than g35s are. Or my G will be for sale soon, if interested PM me.

you guys do have a point but what if the new 06 si cost as much as a used g35? which would one go for? from what i can see, insurance is pretty much the same and they are both from very reliable companies so, i don;t see why the g35 would be a bad choice

the new SI is only 20,500 I looked into it already. And you wont be finding a 6 spd coupe for anything less than 26k, and it will prob have really high mileage

The g35 wouldnt be a bad choice, Im 19 and have had mine since feb of 03. I started with a lexus IS300 sold it for my G. No one said it was a bad choice but it is rather expensive for a first car. Do you realy want 90% of your money going to a car every month? Dont think about it in terms of a month or 3 months from now, look at it in a year or 2 from now. I am personally broke due to modding my car and paying for gas and insurance and the rest of my bills. I don't regret modding, I dont regret the fun ive had with my car, but I realize that I need to get some of my assets into a better investment. Good luck kid, regardless of what you choose.

its also a pretty fast car, and for 16 i would never let me kid have a car like the g when they are just learning how to drive, whether you think you are a good driver or..chances are you'r probably not that good. just get the si so you can save money on gas/insurance and wont kill yourself in it.

oh well on autotrader (i live in phoenix) i found a black g35 coupe for 22900 and under 42000 miles, now i think thats a pretty good deal. Also i won't be buying anything until 07 so depreciation should shave some off of the price.

about the other post, i wont be modding my car with much, a headunit is about as far as i'll go. also, insurance was about 1800 (6 month) which is a lot of money but pretty much the same as say a solara, si, or anyother car in roughly the same catagory.

honestly the g doesn't come off to me as a car that a teenager would have, its more like a car for early to mid 20's just starting out life and wanting to treat themselves for being able to finish school.
i think u should look into other cars, im not saying the g35 is a bad car im just saying at the age of 16 your going to wanna mod your car up like crazy to be unique. and that is easier and cheaper to do with a lets say civic, rsx or other cheaper sports coupes

I don't really think this is true in all cases. I personally started with an IS300 with no accidents or tickets and moved up to my coupe and still havent had any accidents. I got one ticket for 75 in a 65 (that speaks for itself) and beat it but other than that I have never had any issues or had any "close calls" either. All odds were against me by most people I knew to (jealous ppl)

In most cases however you are correct, and I do agree with you.

How about the new SI civic? Get the G when you have more driving exp. Rear wheel drive can be tricky and dangerous for young drivers. But thats just my opinion . Good luck!
