A credit card check is as good as cash to anyone, but keep in mind you pay interest immediately on it. You would have to be careful you wouldn't negate any benefit you would get from it.

Where's the math wiz folks at? You can't just leave the balance on your card, then it will cost you a ton. Simple interest on the auto loan, not the CC. Right?

Another good idea, when I bought my pickup on the VISA I switched cards and had the balance transfered to a 'zero interest for 12 months on transfered balances' new credit card. I used that card for only that, left the balance on it for about 10 months before paying it off. Basically had my truck for about a year before I had to pay for it, with no interest. Wonder if I could have switched that balance to even another card, then another, then another and kept putting it off?

i dont know that there is any law limiting them from charging your card. i would rather believe the dealer doesnt want to pay the processing fee to amex. probably somewhere around 2.95 percent.

Do you happen to know which AMEX card he used. I'm thinking of using my Green Charge Card, no max limit, just pay the bill in full.

I would double check it again, there is MAX limit on how much you can charge on AMEX!
