How many miles sh/could a new car have?

Hi,

I'm shopping around for a new 2006 6MT Coupe. In your experience how many miles could the car have when the dealer hands over the keys?

What if the dealer were to get(drive) the car from another dealer?

Basically I'm trying to steer clear of cars that might have too many miles on it, but I want to understand what "too many" means.

Thanks.

If they're getting the car from another vehicle that's more than 20 miles away, get them to truck it in. You have no idea how that driver drove your new car, not to mention any sort of road damage (paint chips, etc) that could be picked up. I just bought an 06 AT and they're trucking it in from the next state up.

As far as miles, every place i test drove had under 30 mi on the car. Guess they just don't test drive them too much. However, i test drove a 330 coupe and it had close to 100 on it.

Well, Its kinda hard to say how much is too much, back in 03 I saw my G35 been off loaded from the truck and when I pick it up two days later? it had 6 miles on it, but I would be lil bit unease if it had more than 15 miles on it, cus that tells me some one had been test drove it. If an dealership are willing let you test drive any car on the lot? thats a bad sign.

i've swapped in a few cars that were very rare to find that had 600 miles. on a lease it doesn't matter b/c the warranty and lease program starts at the mileage you pick up the vehicle with. if you purchase yes that is a different story but if your car is that rare as far as packages you have no choice unless to order one that will take 4 months
