I was rear-ended this past monday :( :( :(
Hey all,
I got rear ended on way to work January 6th...
The lights just north of Kennedy/Sheppard (on kennedy) @ about 6:20 am.
I was going towards the 401, and i stopped at a red (not sudden stop...the light was red already). A few seconds later...BANG! a lady in a 2000 cehvy malibu hit me. I get out and she was like "I'm sorry, I couldn't stop." I surprisingly didn't get upset...i looked at my car.then hers..and just said "uhm.yeah, i noticed" we drove to the side street right there to change info! If u look at my car..u can't see any damage..if u try really hard there r scratches!
Estimate so far is $944 BUT that is without an internal check to make sure there is no problem with the springs/whatever the bumper is attached too, and no damage to the rear brakes.
*sigh*
insurance siad it's her fault so they will charge it to her....so my rates will not go up!
Still, this all bites....first ever accident! =( =(
At least the car is fine though =) =)
(oh yeah..and I am fine..no whiplash or anything).
She did move my car about 1.5 meters from the impact.
After that, I drove back home and took bus to work! I will not drive anymore when it snows in the morning (early morning) OR any time during heavy snow fall.

hey man, sorry to hear that. As you probably know, I had a bit of an accident myself except it was my wife's own fault. So the brighte side is someone else is actually gonna pay for your repair.

Yeah it's ok i guess...overall, it is still just a car. I am fine

That's how I felt when I saw my damaged car. Guess eventually you'll get over it like I did.
2002 definitly wasn't a good year in terms of driving safety for people that are close to me. I personally didn't have any accident, but my friend did a damage over $11K to his new bought A4 back in April. My parents got hit in their Camry from behind in August. and the damage was $8K. My wife drove the G into the pole in December, and I got it fixed for $750. And just when I thought that should be it, my mother-in-law got hit in her new X-type at a shopping mall just before Xmas, and the car still haven't got fixed yet.
Ah, if those insurance people know about these accident, they might just increase my premium 'cause I know them.

Actualy I wasn't upset in terms of rage..I was like..whatever..it's her fault. A lot of my friends work for insurance so I was told before how it works for a rear ender..I was more pissed that i drove in snow..i drive after roads are cleared but I do not go out when it's actively snowing...monday I did..oh well....right now its snowing hardcore..i am gonna stick at work i guess...no idea what the hell i will do until the snow dies down! (if it last like this past 4 or 5 pm).

Sanjay,, Sorry to hear about your bent G- big or little it's still and major event. Glad to hear you're OK tho. G's can be replaced but there's only one Sanjay. hahaha
A similar event happened to me in Jan. 2001 with my '99 Contour. ...Only the guy took off and stuck me with the bill -$1k-
Make sure they chech her over really well including behind bumper and underneath, rear quarter panels, trunk, shocks and that they replace the rear bumper with OE stuff. No cheap
duplicates. .... good luck and we're thinking about ya,.....

I figure since insurance has to cover it....I will send car to be checked at an official infiniti dealer...not some other garage like cdn tire, or something. Might as well stick with Infiniti for this as well.
If it takes a week to work on, I wonder if I can get a rental BMW or Infiniti G35 coupe..*thinks*

If it were me I'd try first for a G-Sedan, then a G-Coupe, then an M-45, then a Q-45,. Don't settle for anything less than what you're driving. If nothing available at Infiniti then tell the insurance you want an M3 or at least a 330. hahahahaha.
Just make sure the insurance, and the body shop knows that you want OE stuff and no knock-offs. I doubt that any knock-offs are out yet for the G, but you never know. It pays to be specific.
Good luck with the repairs. Man when you get your G back fixed, it'll be like getting into a new car all over again. Also you'll have had about 3-4 weeks less driving your own car in this salty mess!....Stay in touch and let us know how it goes and what replacement you get-------Jag might be nice, even an LS430 if you had to but don't settle for just anything........
