Man that's horrible Deane, it doesn't want to stop. My fishing buddy just returned from a week in Newfy and I said "man you must have got a lot of rain there" and he said none at all, he had a great time.
Well gotta go, that friend and I are heading out for salmon and then we will try for walleye after dark (YUM )

yeah it's not great. Some of the days it was only a mist for a half hour or so but still way too much! Same thing happened last June and then crazy dry for the next three months.

Enjoy the fishing!

Hi Wayne,

Wow, that looks great. I haven't fished since I was about 13 years old but that looks very good. How are things at the fish hatchery?

Yum Yum.

Yes it does sound like a rough life. I know I have one too.

Deane

Okay Wayne,
I grew up in Cobourg (steelhead central), have a cottage near Bon Echo (Buckshot Lake- pickerel, as walleye are called erroneously, and bass with a few lake trout), and have fished for 38 of my 41 years, and I've gotta say- nice fish! Did you get a weight on the pickerel?

Where were you fishing that you managed both in the same vicinity? (I'm guessing Great Lakes, maybe Bay of Quinte area, but?)

Back to the rain post, yesterday, forecasts were threatening 70+km winds with monster thundershowers, but a kind system to our north-west pushed just enough to keep the monsters from the south-west away from this end of the Valley for the day. So on what was supposed to be a crappy day, I managed to get in a 60km road ride during the afternoon, over to the ocean at Margaretsville, after bringing a dozen brook trout to hand in the morning.

Winds were still, and conditions were perfect as the low approached. Of course, with thunder rumbling to the southwest, some might question the wisdom of holding a 9 foot graphite "divining rod," but what the hey?

No pictures of the brookies, Wayne- it'd be laughable- but I did manage one foot long "lunker" of a male, in all his brilliant spotted splendor. Even kept one for my wife for brekkie.

Alas, now we east coasters must prepare for Alberto- an early start to the storm season. Remnants will be passing thru tomorrow/Friday, supposedly.

Cheers,
Derek

Ok, now you've got me curious. I am gonna have to try it. Come to think of it though, I am not too sure how readily available Walleye is around here. I don't recall seeing it in the fish market I get my seafood from.

Jeez, I didn't even hear anything about Alberto. Hopefully you won't get the high winds and rain. We've had some pretty good thunder storms the last two days. The oulook for the weekend is sunny and warm, so I am crossing my fingers!
