I understand why they are doing that..
There are really more and more casualties from street racing...

and imagine with the F&F3, which comes up today..there might be more kids drifting on public rodas ...

but I am just too sick of seeing (bad) cops writing off **** for their quotas

The intent is right but the execution is way wrong.

"Street racing has killed 34 people in the Greater Toronto Area since 1999, including a couple who stumbled upon a race on Toronto's central Yonge St. when returning from their 17th wedding anniversary celebration."

In that same time, I'd love to see the stats on stabbings and shootings in GTA, and for a different spin, the racial murders and attempted murders.

Jim Kenzie, I'm betting, will comment in short order.

Kudos to the Star, for calling it what it was- the tone of the article, at least IMHO, recognised the spectacle as such.

On a sidenote, we had a really hard time getting my buddy's 1992 Si up to 180, so gee, that's some impressive mods to that Civic

Cheers,
D

according to MADD

On average just under 4 Canadians are killed every day and just under 190 "Canadians are injured each day

Approximately 70,000 Canadians impacted by impaired drivers annually"

But you know... the 34 killed each YEAR from street racing should take priority!!

Of course it should......
Got to sensationalize the photo opp so everyone can get re-elected next term.

I absolutely support trying to minimize street racing.
But why does a line in the sand have to be drawn?
What ever happened to the concept of working together....
Why not invest in local venues to get it off the street.
That's what is really needed.

it's not 34 each year...its 34 in FIVE years....like i mentioned before, gun-related crimes kill more than that EACH year...and yet the government decides street racing needs a huge spectacle but not for gun crimes.

That's the beef I have. I don't condone street racing either, it's just the whole way they've been treating things seems wrong. I mean they've basically declared a war on everyone who likes to put mods on their cars, for reasons other than street racing.

The government's priorities ... "I'm loving it" *rollseyes*

I guess I should be more afraid of being killed by Racer's than I should be of getting shot at a bus stop or getting stabbed.
