First Job With The Porter Cable

Well I finally got around to using my PC for the first time. I spent a fair bit of time reading Kevin's posts before I attempted it just cause I wanted to have half a clue as to what I was doing.

First, I want to say that I really never realized how bad my paint was until I saw some of Kevin's work. I had a severe case of spider webbing.

Anyways, here are a few before and after pics. I didn't do anywhere near the job that Kevin does, but I am sure I will get better as I do it more. I was still pretty pleased with the results.

Here are some before shots.

Thanks guys. I spent approximately 6.5 hours on it today. I definitely have a new appreciation for how much time it takes and how good a job that Kevin does.

I have always hand waxed/polished my vehicles in the past and I seriously doubt that I ever will again. Having the PC made things easier and did a MUCH better job in the end. I wish I would of had one of these years ago.

Nice to come home and see this! Excellent job Shane; I'd love to hear what your final process what and if you had any trouble with any particular parts or the routine or concerns about the paint etc... These G's can be very finicky when you start working on their paint, so it'll only get better over time as you continue to work on it. Good workout for the arms, no?

And ya, if I didn't use it so much I'd mount the PC like a trophy fish. It pays for itself in one use.

Again, awesome work. I bet it was satisfying seeing the results in person.

Hehehe, not sure about being able to give you pointers yet Deane.

I bet you are anxious to get all your stuff so you can do the same.

I didn't run into any issues at all Kevin.....or at least I didn't think so. I used the Poorboys SR2 first, then the SR2.5. After that, I wiped it down with the water/alcohol mix. Once it was wiped down, I applied a coat of Zaino Z2. Is there anything else I should do that you would recommend?

It was definitely a good workout on the arms. I am playing golf tomorrow and I have a feeling that my arms are going to be super sore.

Overall, this was definitely the most satisfying thing that I have done to my G in almost three years of ownership.
