Question HIDs as DRLs?

Can you guys think of an easy way to either run the HID low-means on my '06 sedan during daylight or replace the high-beams with something that will match the HID colour temperature of the low-beams when they are in DRL-mode?

I was thinking that replacing the high-beams with HID lights may be costly and I'm not sure if it would work (since the DRL mode is set up for lower power output than the high-beam setting).

I was also thinking that there may be a way to "fool" the light sensor in "auto" setting to think it's always dark out and keep the low-beam HIDs on during the day (is there an easy way to do this)?

I replaced the high-beams on my 350Z with Silvania Silverstars and was not happy with how yellow they still looked when lit up as DRLs. I'm not going to waste money on that again.

I think you can fool the "auto" by covering the sensors, they are on the dash next to the windshield vents

Thumbs up

Good idea Peter.

I kick myself whenever I pull into a car wash or parking lot and the lights flip on. The manual says it will wear them out turning them on then turning them off quickly. If they were on all the time, problem solved

^ I like to use auto . However every time I pull into my home garage the lights cycle on for a few seconds and then off again with the car. Not good.

If you cover up the photo sensor, you'll also have daytime running tails.

I think I may actually cover up the sensor. I typically turn the HIDs on in daylight when I'm on the highway or freeway. This way, I wouldn't have to remember. Should be safer and look cooler at the same time.
