Ordering parts from Japan...

anyone who has ordered parts from Japan (especially from japanparts.com), did you have to pay any taxes or duty on your products? if so, how much?

Re: Ordering parts from Japan...

I've just ordered a NISMO stuff from japanparts.com few days ago....I will let you know how much the custom charge me later this week

But I think every auto parts from Japan have to pay duties...no exception unless they are gifts...

I order a few times from there and there was no duty. It's pretty much the cost that Japanparts gives you times the exchange rate when the bills comes. It toke over a month before i saw a charge on my credit bill. You will most likely get the parts within 3 business days.

Re: Ordering parts from Japan...

that's good news. hope it goes the same for me =)

I received an email today with a Purolator tracking #, but when I check it on the site, it tells me I have to call a special 1-800 number....
does anyone know what that means? maybe it just hasn't been processed yet..

Re: Ordering parts from Japan...

well I will answer my own question.
I called the 1-800 number and found out that packages don't show up on their tracking system until it arrives in canadian customs.

not sure if this is true for all packages from japan, but sure sounds silly to me.
unless they don't have Purolator in japan. then it makes sense.

Re: Ordering parts from Japan...

woohoo, my package has arrived in Vancouver and cleared customs today.
I must say, that was pretty quick, considering I received the email from japanparts on oct 8, and it's already in canada on the 9th.

I'm guessing it'll be here (toronto) by tuesday after thanksgiving.

Saridi, you gotta put up some pics after you install that rear diffuser. are you getting any other areo parts/kits to go with it?

this is the part we're talking about right?

Re: Ordering parts from Japan...

Yes, that's the part I am getting. I will install and check the quality of nismo kit first, then decide whether I should get a full nismo bodykit or replica one. Or maybe I will just get the factory aero kit instead.

Re: Ordering parts from Japan...

damn those guys are fast. I just received my package from japanparts (around 4pm)! thought I heard a suspicious truck outside my house, and what do ya know?

the purolator guy must think I'm a weirdo for being so happy to see him! haha.

initially, I was slightly worried as you can see how battered the box was. it actually felt kinda smooshed in. but everything turned out ok. no taxes were charged at all. I will definitely order from them again =)
