Pushing Your engine

hey guys,

Now that my engine is broken in, i was just curious if pushing your your engine to the redline occasionally would have any harm or effect to the reliability of the engine, or transmission.

thanks.

LOL, indeed, as would we all ......

Zac, Occasionally 'sampling' redline shouldn't upset anything, bro.

A regular 'whipping' keeps her 'in tune'.

Enjoy that 'sampling' and 'whipping'.......

Colin.

I think it would be a good thing to redline it once in a while .. especially right after the break in period ... sorta like flushing out the things having built up inside ... whatever analogy one wants to use ...

I redline at least once a day. No problems so far...

Besides, you should redline once every couple of days to keep the ECU from going into "granny mode". 5000rpm redline would suck.

Redlining keeps the carbon from building up...yeah, that's the ticket. Besides, the G's rev-limiter is great...it's a really soft limiter that doesn't really upset the car too much when you're on it.

Zac, if your really concerned, ask a local police officer to stay just behind you when you want to redline. That way he'll be able to assist you if you get into any trouble. (hint: when you hit redline, keep it there and say thanks and goodbye to the officer).
The only thing it might harm is your demerit account.

Wow, how ironic is this thread. Last night was the first time I pushed my G to the redline since I've had it. Sad, very very sad. It was a sh!tload of fun too. My father was pleasantly surprised at how quick the G is.
