If you know your work location & the address where you will be living;
use google map to plot the best route & distance.

Depends on postal code. (res & work)
There is a huge difference between some areas.

I'm outside GTA & my '04 sedan is < $1000/yr

My son lives in Downtown Toronto for the last 7 years and he takes the local transit everywhere. It depends where you live and what you like to do like inTgr8r says, "it's a big place".

Speaking of postal codes, I gotta move out of Markham. People in Corollas are driving waaaaaay too slow and it's causing my rages on the road! I used to drive a 1989 Corolla Wagon with 90 hp and I can tell you that it is not THAT slow!

agreed. I moved to TO about 6 years ago from NYC and I rarely drive when Im in the city and when I do, I rarely drive far.

but its hard to answer if you dont know where you want to live and where your daily travels will take you.

There is some wild rate swings in the GTA. I had a buddy that lived downtown and then moved to Maple and his rate went up $700/yr!
The reason for this is that people downtown tend to take transit and are not driving a lot and there is less chance of an accident. Most people that live in Maple tend to commute and there is more chance of an accident because of the time on the road every day. The rate is figured on where the people that are having the accidents live.
Just some more fun insurance facts!
Dontcha' love it!
