Rum Runners Relay

I'm off to the Rum Runners Relay. It's a 10 person running relay from Halifax to Lunenburg and I believe about 60 teams entered. 110km total distance. I've got leg 8 -13km. Hope our team can repeat or top last year where we finished 2nd.

Gorgeous day out today expected along the beautiful South Shore on old road. It's the last serious tune up before Chicago.

Best of luck Deane.

Tomorrow is the CIBC Run for the Cure so I have a 5km run in the morning.

Oct. 15 I am set for the Toronto 1/2 Marathon.

Gotta keep this old body moving, I am trying my hardest to stay out of the OF club.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. LOL the only rum is a mini rum oak barrel with the winners names inscribed on plaques. That serves as the trophy!

I know exactly what you mean Peter. Good luck tomorrow for a good cause and in a couple of weeks in the half.

What a spectacular day spend next to the ocean. Full sun and 19 degrees.
We finished 2nd again to the same team that won last year.

I did the same leg as last year and managed to squeak out 6 seconds faster. 13 very hilly kms and headwind the whole way in 52:28.

Glad to hear the bod held up well, Deane......that bodes well for the upcoming Chicago 'jaunt'....

Excellent finishing position....kudos to your team.

Time for a well deserved Iced Tea, and a soak in the hot tub....

Hmmm, this thread is not what I thought it would be about. Where are the tales of inebriation and wanton destruction of one's liver?

hehe sorry to disappoint. I guess we runners are pretty boring. I turned over a new leaf about 9 years ago when I started to run, after many years of what would qualify as a liver destruction marathon.

Hey Deane,

I ran the 5km today and did well (24:26), not a personal best but still satisfying. I doubt my body could manage a marathon, so I will stick to 1/2s for now but I really give credit to anyone who can do the full marathon.

Keep up the good work, like myself keep fighting to stay out of the OF club as long as we can.
