I think my wife might agree with that about me too.

I'm sure parenthood will be a wonderful experience for you and A.

Canuck and inTgr8r, have you decided on where you guys are going?

Here's the Hotels that we are staying at:

Venice: http://www.palacebonvecchiati.it/en/index.htm

Sorrento: http://www.aminta.it/

Rome: http://www.hotelbailey.com/

Found a lot of great reviews on these hotels on Tripadvisor.

Thanks again to all of you for the tips and recommendations.

Not 100% sure on all the areas that I want to cover, but am thinking of concentrating more of the southern half of Italy.....Naples, Capri, Palermo, etc. I still want to make sure that I see Venice, Rome, Florence, and other northern places as well, but I would say that I will spend most of the time in the south. I will be doing some more research as the time goes by though. Maybe you'll be able to give us some suggestions when you get back.

been to Italy quite a few times. the best advice I can give you is to get off the beaten path when you can, and adjust to the pace of life in Italy whilst you're there. Especially in Roma if you really want to expereince the city and have some long lasting memories you need to find an authentic trattoria for dinner and then hanging at the Piazza del Campidoglio at night for the view.

enjoy the hooneymoon

For sure, once I'm back (Flying back on November 24) and settled in, I'll post some information and suggestions. I already have friends asking me to give them some recommendations when I return because they are planning to go to the southern part next year.

Florence was one of our destinations, but we would have had to cut our time in each city, so we decided to keep that for our next visit!

Looks great!

Piazza del Campidoglio
Piazza del Campidoglio is located on top of the Capitol Hill in Rome,
where Roman Divinities were once praised and nowadays it is headquarter of the Italian Government.

Congratulations on the upcoming marriage Tauseef, all the best to you and yours.
I have always wanted to go to Italy. My eldest daughter lives in England now and she always loves visiting Italy. She goes there skiing in the winter months.

Great pic Ian. Of all the places that I have travelled, nothing compares to European architecture. I was blown away by the architecture and history when I was over there earlier this year.

I just got back from Italy - the only advise I can give is on Venice, and that is that of all the places I went in Italy it's the one I would advise to see, and get the hell out of asap. The architecture is mind blowing; the Piazza San Marco is awe inspiring, the Basillica, incredible; the Palace... you get the idea, but the town is sinking under the weight of tourism. It's packed in the slow season, it's rife with vendors taking advantage of unweary tourists, Venetian Masks abound, almost everything is hideously overpriced. It's worth seeing if only to go to the Piazza, and maybe do a walking tour of the cities churches (San Fantin, San Maria, San Guilian, etc...), but that's it, imo.
