Anyone bank with ING Direct?

Anyone use ING for savings? Have some money that I want to put away, but need access to without any headaches. Online banking with no fees and better interest than the big banks how could you go wrong. Any input?

Thanks

Hello from So Cal....I have one. It's great! Only downside is that you have to wait a couple of days if you want to withdraw the money. Then again....it's a savings acct. So you shouldn't really be withdrawing it!

Yes I have for years. Both for my personal and for my own business. Absolutely satisfied.

Once you set it up it couldn't be easier to transfer both ways. No fuss, no fees etc. Takes a 1-3 days but the 3.5% almost meets GICs without having to be locked in. Please send me a PM and we can each receive a little $ $ bonus. Anyone else contemplating this too please feel free to do the same. :

Thanks and good luck.

yes, it's pretty easy to use. all w/d and deposits are done via ACH so it usually takes about 2-3 days for the funds to reach their destination. i work for a CU, so if you have any questions let me know. also, from my experiance, they have pretty good customer service. i emailed a quetion to them and had a resopnse the next day...pretty good for a large financial institution.

one downside, it's a european based company, so if you're all *rah rah america* you may want to look elsewhere.

^this is the Canada forum so even though we enjoy our US bros the rah rah america is a pretty safe bet not to happen. Dutch companies are nice though too.

Excellent to deal with. No complaints in all the years I've been with them.
My account is secure, reasonably profitable by today's rates, and very user friendly (by either 'phone or 'puter)
You won't be disappointed.

As the Dutch chap Frederick says on ING ads: "..and save your money"...

Canadian Tire just opened up an online banking as well.

I use PCFinancial for savings and they have a pretty good no fee chequing & savings account. At least I can use CIBC ATM's and do not have to link a bank account which ING does. Rates are just as competitive as well.

It's a virtual bank used mainly for savings especially when you may need access to the money versus a GIC. I believe they have ATMs at many CTC stores. The interest rates paid are higher than bricks & mortar banks. Most people use it to save and keep another bank for regular transactions.

Don't let us tell you what to do Manbir. Research and make your own decision on what works for you.

+1 for PC Financial. I have been with them for several years now and I can honestly say nothing negative towards their services. I pay zero fees, free cheques, and a 3.05% interest account.

We use both....
PC for day to day... same reasons as ^

& ING for the squirrel away $...
Mainly because you have to plan ahead a few days. (helps on those impulse items )
& usually a fraction better rate than PC. (currently 3.5 vs 3.05)

I use it for savings and CD's, sure beats the 1% that the banks will give you.

Current Annual Percentage Yield: 5.2%
