72k service

i decided to go in to alta to get the 72k service done on my car even though it only has 67k on it right now....so i was able to get a rental which turns out to be a nissan x-trail whatever...so they just called me to tell me that my brakes are down to 2% and i need new rotors, so they are going to replace the pads and rotors for an extra $477+tax so now that bring my total up to $1060 i wasn't expecting this at all.....i got my car last may, so i was wondering if this should still be under warranty?

brakes are wear and tear. typically are not covered under warranty. sounds like u unfortunately got the car just as the brakes were coming to their life's end.

72k km.

As mentioned brakes are a wear item, so not under warranty. You may save some money by buying them outside the dealership though. You do not have to have any non-warranty work (including brakes) done at the dealership.

IIRC there was an extended warrantee on non-brembos for <'05
... don't recall the details though.

At one time there was an extended warranty on those brakes and rotors. You might want to talk to the dealer to see if it's still in effect.
I've forgotten the time and distance of the extension, but it's worth asking about.

Colin.

Your out of luck. Don't let the stealership change them. Go elsewhere.

If you don't mind a trip to Newmarket, you can try www.Simoneperformance.com . Vic is a really good guy to deal with and a former Alta Tech( master nissan mechanic). He knows his stuff!!!

Tnx, Deane. Yeah I was afraid of that......I had an inkling that it was 3 yr 60k....which he'll just miss out on....

Pity it wasn't looked after last May when the car changed hands.....and was still within that time frame..

Sorry Ninog......looks like you're footin' the bill...
