LOL, no thanks. A lot of people here would trade you for TO wages though.

You would likely be surprised if you looked at central Halifax. Especially for a city less than 1/10 size of GTA.

June-through September is typically our warmer weather here. Our springs the last couple of years have really sucked, and even June hasn't been the nicest. When summers are only a few months, that is definitely too short for my liking. Oh well, what are you going to do?

Kevin, you should check real estate prices in Saint John and surrounding areas. You would be amazed at the houses you buy for under $200k. Heck, 3 years ago I only paid $103k for my 4 bedroom house with a big 26' x 28' garage. Real estate prices have definitely climbed the last couple of years, but they are certainly still very reasonable compared to other places.

We actually did look before we moved to Toronto. We spent a lot of time checking out Halifax, St John, Fredericton; we were actually looking in Vermont too (Burlington area). In the end though Beth's job was Toronto or bust, oh well. Some day.

We're looking for a new place now in Toronto, we just got blown out of the water on an offer last week. It's starting to remind me of the San Francisco real estate market.

Wow!!! I really thought the homes would be alot more than that. Rothesay NB is a beautiful place.
I'm sure you must love it there Shane. When I drove through there last year I even said I could settle here.

Yeah Bill, Rothesay really is a beautiful spot along the river. Rothesay is actually one of the wealthiest places per capita in Canada......so there is definitely some very expensive real estate here. My house is 30 years old in an older quiet neighborhood so the prices are very reasonable. You'll have to let me know if you are ever back this way.

Wow!! In Calgary right now you'll be lucky to get a one bedroom 750 square foot condo for $200k in a 30 year old building let alone a house with a 728 square foot garage.

That's about the same here too, although on houses I know Calgary is much more.

That's just crazy Shane. There is a long way to go for appreciation there. You could not build your house here in a similiar setting for under $250. In the city it would be more.

That's interesting K. I liked that Lake Champlain area when we travelled through there last summer.

Shame to hear about the housing market situation for you. Ours is cooling a lot in the past 6 months + and its starting to become a buyers market especially in the higher range.

Good luck in your search.

You've been to my house Deane so you know what it looks like. Although it is 30 years old, I still think we got it for for an extremely good price.......especially since the garage was brand new when we bought the house. Mind you we've spent some $$$ updating things as well. Anissa and I would happily take a house like yours though, it is beautiful!!

Thanks. You've got a great house Shane. For the price it is spectacular. I really liked the way it was decorated and furnished. I would kill to have a bigger garage like yours.

Anissa will have to visit sometime.

728 sq/ft garage? Man, talk about envy. I'm lucky here since I have access to the condos garage, but I'd love to have my own.

Get this, our first house in SF was 720sq/ft, your garage is bigger.

That's funny! I hope you can move up a little bit in TO.

I only have a 420 sq. ft garage and no room to expand it.

Our current place is 1400, so compared to 700 it's like a cavern.

Bummer about having no room; is it a lot line issue?
