Squeaking Brakes

Hey,

just a quick question regarding squeaking brakes. In the mornings (pretty chilly mornings) when my car has been parked overnight, and when i apply my brakes when i pull out of my garage, the brakes make a very big squeaking sound, i think from all the brakes...but once i drive and use the brakes after a while, the squeaks stop...prolly cause the brakes have warm up..

has anyone else experienced this???...what would be the problem???

thanks

Same thing, only happens during the winter months. Not a big deal I don't think.

Yeah I notice something like this only yesterday morning. Mine was not sqeaking per se but more of a thump thump sound.

Example, I will bring the car to a stop and when i let go the brakes to accelerate, i will hear a *thump* *thump* sound. Then it goes away after driving for sometime.

Is this ok as well?

I hear this loud squeak too when it's cold. Could it be that brake wear indicator though? Or would the brake wear indicator *always* squeak instead of only when you first drive the car?

Does anyone know *for sure*? I don't want to think it's OK and then find out that I need to replace my rotors because I didn't change the pads soon enough...

If you are letting "go" of the brakes and you hear a thumping sound after....it probably isn't your brakes. Most likely it is your tranny. Do you have auto?? I have noticed this only when it is cold and when I warm up my car it does not become an issue. I am assuming it is the torque converter.

If it were your wear indicators, it would be there whether the brakes were cold or warm, and especially loud when you corner.

Just pop your wheel off and do a visual inspection of the brake pads to be sure.

mine did it too so try this
when you start it up push fairly hard on the brake before you engage reverse. mine only did it when backing out of the garage. if i backed in and drove out no noise.

maybe stepping on the brake puts the pads in full contact so that it doesn't vibrate who knows but it worked.

Yes i have an Auto.
Dont think it is the tranny though cause upon further observation I realized the thump thump only occurs after the brakes are wet, like if it is raining, snowing, after a car wash etc.

But again, goes away after awhile from being warmed up and with more use.
