A little something for you all (Story sharing)
Today is March 30th, 07 (2 days before March is gone)
Last year March, I was admitted to ICU because of my throat and wind pipe being infected by Flu...
This year, 2 days before my birthday, I discovered today that:
1) I possibly blew one of my oem cats.. shortly after I swapped my Kinetix out and had the oem back on
2) I blew one of my 2 days old Michelin PS2 (that I bought and put on 2 days ago)...on 401, there was a loud enough bang that woke me up from my half asleep state..
On a sidenote, how reliable do you a think a patched tire is? I was thinking if I should just get a new tire? but that would be another hole in my already burnt pocket.
God bless me please...

I've always had a fear of patched tires. It might be irrational, so maybe someone can set us both straight.
RE: your bad luck, you should come by for a quick wax sometime soon, on me.

The PS2 should be covered, shouldn't it. Either way I would rather replace it with new. You bought a fantastic handling tire and there is no sense chancing it.
Stay put, and don't move till after midnight, and Good Luck.
If it's any help, I had a nail puncture in my brand new Yok's in one of the tread blocks, so they plugged the hole as well as patched it from the inside. They told me that the tire would be as good as new but only because it was in one of the tread blocks.
Where did your tire blow and how did it blow? (nail or other foreign object)

On another note... I am really debating whether to patch it or not... I am more afraid if the shop can do a good job.
From my knowledge, and from the location that I had my puncture: almost dead centre inside the water channel where there is no tread, that's the most suitable location for a tire patching.
Should I!? !? !?
Even if I order through my company, it is $475 a piece (tax and shipping inclusive)
Edit: Btw, I really apprecaite you guys' kind words... That's what I like the most about you guys - The support that you offer to everyone that needs help on this forum

Thanks for being so caring. The puncture that I see is only on one of the water channels close to the centre of the tire (where there is no tread).
The puncture looks like a foreign object since I can't find anything on the tire anymore but a 1/8" hole/ slit.

On another note, do you have trouble going up/down your garage ramp with the 335 coupe? I thought the coupe was lower than my car ...
Btw, I just dunno how can this happen to me - I could have been home sleeping but elected to crank out our final deliverables for a pro-bono (volunteer) consulting project that I have been working on since October.
I discovered the flat at like 10pm tonight when I was walking back to my car to head up from the 4 hour meeting. (on top of my regular 9 to 5 job).
Oh well, I guess that's enough whinning here.... and I do feel better just because of all of you guys' kind words.
Thanks again,

hey Godmans, sorry to hear about your week bro. We all have those from time to time. Back in May '05 I was having one of the best weeks ever, the weather was beautiful, my car was pimp when out of nowhere a 17 yr. old rear ended me and sent me to the hospital and my car to the junk yard...so yeah...I've had bad weeks too.
As for the tire, I'd patch it as a temporary solution but I would eventually get a new one and keep the patched tire as a spare. BTW, let me know if you need help with the Nismo front.
Cheers.

Since your tires are "2 days old" there will be warranty on them for blowout.
Patched tires are definitely not as good and apparantly lose their speed rating. You definitely want a new one..
The Cats.....well I guess since the system is modified, then warranty won't apply....sorry about that...Check around some boneyards (by phone) and see if they have any OEM's for your ride...otherwise get your chequebook out, they're pricey.
At least you don't have the flu this year.....things are lookin' up..
G/L (and may God bless you..)

I always just assumed a patch tire wouldn't be as good as a new one, but only by a relatively slim margin. I did have a patch on my Lincoln and Avalon and driven for over a year or two with no problems, but then again, I never drove those two cars very hard.
On my G, I had a nail in the right rear tire, almost dead centre. Running Bridgestone Blizzaks LM-22 (or 25's. I can't remember) Patched it up, and drove the car hard like I always do. Two weeks later, my wife was driving on the 407 and the tire had a blow out. Scared her half to death. Thank god for our roadside assistance.
I would consider getting a new tire. Someone who opts for PS2's is probably going to be driving the car hard.

Thanks in advance,
Godmans
P.S. Thanks others for the suggestion ... I have just got my tire patched this morning but is really worried that it would affect the performance of the tire...
