Cross Border Shipments - Duty, etc.
Hi Guys
I've got a quick question in regards to cross-border shipments. I will be accepting a delivery of rims/tires in Buffalo, NY from a relative. I will then be crossing back over to Toronto where I reside.
What duty fees am I expected to pay? The rims/tires are used, and noticeably so.
If the item is as a gift, would I still be expected to pay duty fees?
Thanks.

That's a little iffy....
AFAIK... you can bring gifts in w/o paying duty taxes etc... but there are limitations.
You will need a statement from your relative identifying what you are bringing in.
eg 4 used/damaged xyz wheels & abc tires value $0 gift.
Alternatively if you buy them from your relative for... ~$400
you need a bill of sale (mark used/damaged etc)
You would pay no duty, just GST & PST taxes
