07 G35 coupe hood replacement

Hi guys,

So i decided to replace the hood on my 3-4 week old 07 coupe, due to a very minor dent that was caused by - i would rather not say becuase you guys will probably laugh - and the estimate from the Woodchester Collision was about $1400 for a new original hood.
Is this a good price? any suggestions/recommendations?
oh and so i have a spare hood, with a very small dent right in the middle if anyone's interested, easy fix.

Thanks

If its such an "easy fix", why would you fork out $1400 for another hood?

How much would it cost to get fixed?

Any pics of the hood?

I thought about this too myself, but given the fact that the car is only 3-4 weeks old i don't think anyone would just want to cover up the dent with filling and call it a day (as i was told by woodchester collision, you cannot perfectly form back an aluminum hood, and filling needs to be used).

This is why im forking out 1400 for a new hood. If the car was 2-3 years old, i'd just spend around $400 to fix the dent.

One other thing is that none of the shops out there can do an original pearl white paint job as it is offered by woodchester collision (authorized from infiniti).

I got an estimates for a fix from local shops for around $400.

The pics will be in very soon, i will post some up.

I don't see much difference whether the car is 2-3 weeks old or 2-3 years old in terms of replacing or fixing the damage. Do what you need to get a quality job that will be happy with. "Easy fix"?

I can't understand how a good body shop can't do a quality pearl paint job as good or better than the OEM and as good as the dealer.

Maybe you should sell it as a hood someone could use with the Stillen Super Charger. They need to modify their hood to fit the super charger in anyway.

wow I have no idea that 07's OEM hood will cause that much. Good luck.

yea, appearently woodchester collision is the best place to get stuff like this done for the Gs.

also, why is it hard to pop out dents from the hood of these Gs? Why does filling have to be used? This is what i was told by almost all the shops out there. If anyone can help, it'll be great.

The weather was terrible today, i will get some pics 2moro.

Thanks!

More along the lines of:

Windy day + light basketball net + G sitting infront of the basketball net = dent on the hood

Lesson learned...

On a larger dent the metal is stretched over a larger area... so it's harder to get back in shape.
Some shops are doing amazing things with dry ice though.....

I'm sure it's just easier to pop most of it out... then refinish.

If the dent is smooth, would you be able to go to a "Dent Dr" to see if the could massage the dent out?
