Mounting your 407 Transponder (or equiv)

For GTA drivers.... has anyone NOT mounted their 407 transponder on the windshield??

On my previous car, it was mounted the standard way, ie with the sticky velcro tape on the windshield...and it looked pretty crappy from the outside where you can see the tape, the white labels, etc

I need to pick up some new sticky tape for the new G, and for now its just sitting on top of the dash (in front of the speaker). As the transponder is dark, just like the graphite dash, it actually looks fine just where it is !!!.....and it works perfectly....and its a lot neater than on the windhield....so I'm thinking of just taping it right there (or behind the speaker)..... has anyone done that?? Am I nuts?

As long as it's not shielded it'll work just fine.
In my vert, it's in the center console... works fine.

i've tried putting it in my centre console in my Z, but no dice. What i do is just hold it up when i enter/exit haha. I can't bring myself to put that Velcro tape on my windshield.

This is exactly what I do as well. I put it in the NAVI pop up tray...(I don't have Navi) and when i enter/exit, i hold it up.

Ghetto but who cares

Wow, you guys are picky. I have it mounted up behind the mirror in the shaded glass. I can't see it from the drivers seat.

Works for me especially since we whip through the bridge tolls. Having the gate hit my car because I forgot to lift the transponder was all it took to mount to the windshield.

I knew that. I needed to explain my situation.

I guess we have a lot of toll bandits here.

I put it in the empty space beside the cup holder in the arm rest. Works great.

I nuzzled my transponder between the centre speaker and the windshield (face up ; velcro at the bottom)

Doesnt seem to budge from there...but have not confirmed it works there given its near a magnet and is facing the opposite way I would normally have it, but I'll know soon enough.

We have a set billing amount each month you choose that triggers when your account gets low and the toll flashes "low account". Transponder reads your account bills bank or visa account .

Why not just attach the velcro to the transponder and then place the thing on the rear deck? I don't have tint, but I think that the signal is strong enough to work through tint.

That way it's out of sight.
