Yeah, I'm waiting for his thread too! I couldn't make it...have an electrical issue in the car and I've been travelling for work so I didn't have time to work on the car. Buh bye registration fee.

That's a shame and lots of money to flush away too.

I've got decide in the next couple of days on our school for June 9/10.

Sorry for the delay guys..... (so many things on the go right now)

I think I’m in trouble….
…..Tracking this car could be VERY addictive.

In spite of the weather I had an absolute blast at Mosport on the weekend.
It’s hard to put into words everything that I experienced.

The Track
I have a new found appreciation for this layout.
I’ve spectated at many events there over the years and know it well.
I was very familiar with all the turns, their names and their reputation in motor racing folklore.
None of that gave me an appreciation for the layout, like driving the tack myself did.
It’s no wonder that some of the greatest drivers rave about Mosport.

The first thing that blew me away was all the elevation changes…..
There are very few corners that aren’t preceded by a hill, …..completely obstructing what lays ahead.
I found turn 4 especially, to have a very unique form of pucker power.
- and when I learned that the F1 cars didn’t even lift throttle there, it made it even more amazing.
There are so many nuances to this track, I think you could lap it a 1000 times & still find little mysteries.
Even something like the back straight….
You think, hey it’s a straight; ***** to the wall & let her wail – until you hit a little fluttery piece of pavement at +200 that suddenly makes your car feel like it’s floating on air…
WOW. …does that get the adrenaline flowing.
I don’t really know how fast I was going at that point… I didn’t dare shift my eyes
I do know 4th gear hits 215 at red line & by the engine music, I was getting damn close.

The corners I found the most challenging to get around quickly were 4, the 5 complex & the esses.
The corner I absolutely loved was turn 2 with the double apex.

The BMW Club School
First rate all the way!
There was a HUGE emphasis on safety.
Strict rules for passing – The driver ahead has to move off the line to the left & signal to let you by on the right. Disobey= black flag & you're gone.
Also, passing was only allowed in 3 zones.
They are also very strict with anyone being too aggressive & driving beyond their capabilities.
If you put a wheel off the track… the third time you’re gone.
4 wheels off, do it a 2nd time & gone.
There was also great class sessions on theory etc. , but the overall philosophy was learn by doing with your instructor.
The instructors were great and you had the same instructor all the way through.
I ended up with a great guy that drives a Z3M roady which helped immensely since he had so much experience with a similar car.

The car
Well…. What can I say.
Basically this little beastie is a street legal race car.
The music it makes as you run through the gears is absolute nirvana.
The power is nothing short of OMG….. it just ripped past cars in the passing zones.
The feedback that it gives you is incredible; it was amazing how it communicated what was going on.
After your braking zone… & start to feed into the corner….
Smoothly feed in some throttle & you knew instantly when the car was balanced & carving the corner.
LOL… & when it wasn’t

The other cars
Not much to say other than a car junkies dream…
-GT350, Viper, Vets galore, Porsche out the ying yang… & of course tons of Bimmers.

The driver
Smiling ear to ear….
The driver that finished is definitely not the same one that started the session.
I learned sooooooo much and yet what I learned is barely the tip of the iceburg.

This was a truly amazing experience…… one that I hope to enjoy again & again

I got goose bumps reading about it also. Wow, sounds amazing. Can't wait to hear all about it in person over a Carona or two. Glad you had a great time Ian.
