What's up with the buzzing sound?!?

hey guys

I bought a used 04 G35 Couple less a month ago and ever since I got my car, I've been notiching this buzzing sound coming from my front windshield (or underneath??!)....It is not that crazy loud as I have to turn the music off and close my windows fully to hear the sound .... but it does bug me to a certain stand...

I have done some search on this forum but I am not sure if this is the "rattling sound" that has been mentioned many times in other threads..

So I'm just wondeirng if anyone here has experienced the same problem and if there is anything that i can do (tighten up some screws??) to fix this????

thank you guys in advance..

Yes it's coming from the rear view mirror. Give the top and bottom a little squeeze when it happens and it will stop. There is a TSB out for it, however in my car it wasn't effective. I need to take it apart myself and fix it for good.

^WHS....
I was able to fix mine by shimming a wedge (narrow strip of plastic) between the glass & frame.

Hey RBull, thanks for the info.. any ideas where you saw the thread or if possible, the title of the thread?

I just twisted my mirror around (almost broke it) but it seems like the problem still persists..

Technical Service Bulletin - dealer bulletin where they will repair the known problem for no charge.

A simple squeeze of the mirror should temporarily stop the buzzing when it is present. No twisting or turning is necessary. The problem is not in the mount although you are able to tighten that if required. If that doesn't stop it temporarily you have a different issue.

The simplest things in these cars cause the most annoying noises! I have a wedge of paper between my back winshield and roof liner to stop the bass from rattling it.

Good to hear. Any other problems or questions post up. Someone is bound to know the answer. Good luck with the car.
