Buying a floor jack + stands
Im in the market to buy a jack + stands.
Princess Auto has one on sale for 74.99 - http://65.110.80.25/pdfs/Event10_flyer_english.pdf (first page, yellow)
Any comments on this jack? I'll be using this jack for oil changes and tire swaps.
I had a el cheapo jack from Canadian Tire which was very poor so I can really appreciate a jack with good hydraulic action.

I ended up buying it, some great deals there. Along with 2 3ton jack stands for $20.
Anyways, I haven't tried it out yet, but the hydraulic system works great. The coworkers frowned when I asked them to stand on the saddle.

Good price, heavy duty part and will accept the new saddle I bought there like Deane's that he pictured.
I love the low profile of it especially with the new saddle on. (without the new saddle it's 51/8", with the new saddle it's 41/4".....so low profile like I wanted.
It's more than I wanted to spend but the new saddle wouldn't fit my old, cheaper 2 ton jack which had only a 1/2" saddle pin and a small saddle.
I stuck the new jack under the rear fender of the M just to show the ample clearance (NO I don't jack it up from there....
Colin.
Ha, so funny, I was looking at the same one plus the jack stands. Maybe pick it up this weekend as I'm coming up due for an oil change. Would you guys recommend a jack and stands over, say, Rhino ramps?

OH yes, Wayne, (GEE35X) on the second pic of just the jack on the driveway I pulled off the new saddle I bought yesterday to show you the underside and the 1" mounting pin.
I found that my old 2 ton jack had a very small mounting pin and that the new saddle wouldn't go on.
I don't know how big of a mounting pin you have on the present saddle of your jack, but if it's 1" then the new saddle I picked up for you will fit. If it's not 1" then it won't.
Let me know if you want this new saddle or not. I've got you one and one more spare for whomever wants it. They were on sale at Princess for $4.99 (reg. $8.99) as RB said yesterday.

The Rhino Ramps I have too but the last couple times I tried to use them, they kept slipping on the cement floor. I finally got p'd off after 15 minutes of trying to drive up them and gave up in favour of my hydraulic jack and stands..
I like the Rhino's but I must figure out how to stop them from moving while driving up on them. -- The rubber friction bumpers on the underside of the ramps just did not cut it.......

I'll need a saddle or risk damaging? Is the saddle just needed for the initial jacking or do the jack stands need some sort of rubberized fitting as well? I've never really had to use a rubberized saddle, but then again I used to drive a ****box

.. no need to worry about the stand since it'll just sit there and not take any weight.
If you jack both sides up then obviously the body will sit on a stand and you'd need a rubber protector for the stand too......but not just jacking one side at a time .

Please don't put it on your aggregrate driveway. (I have one too)That's such a nice expensive finish. You will scrape the heck out of it and remove the epoxy finish (if you keep it coated).
