Apples to oranges. M3 is a driver's car, 335i is built with the passenger in mind. The M3 has a racing heritage, the 335i is smooth and civilized. The M3 is involving and very capable if driven properly, the 335i leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to driving dynamics. If you're looking for a tuner's car to tinker with, get the 335i, if you want a high-strung car that's a great package out of the box, get the M3. 328/335's are a dime a dozen. There's something special about M cars, just like there's something special about AMG cars or Z06 Vettes. Looks are subjective, I think both look great, but I really like the widebody/fender flares of the M3.

Better yet wait for the new M3 which will be more exclusive for a few years until they depreciate. Also you want a a full warranty on a BMW so I would take a new 335 over a used e46 M3 in a second.
Even though I agree with your warranty point on Bimmers, he is comparing a 2006 M3 to 2007 335i so in this case warranty is not that much of an issue.

I also prefer the redesign 3 series over the e46. But still, I would go with an M3.

Well buying a 2006 now wouldn't hurt you too much warranty wise. With a couple years of new car warranty left it should keep a person's mind at ease. I'd be nervous about buying a one year old performance car. You know it's almost guaranteed that it has had the hell beat of it in that short time frame. Or maybe it was rear ended and never quite felt the same? Who buys a ~$75K car and gets rid of it a year later? Or two years later for that matter? A lease return maybe? Even more incentive to drive the hell out of it. Maybe it isn't a concern though as these cars are designed to be driven hard.

Personally I'd go for a new 335i. It's new (both in current condition and in design), costs less, is very fast and very capable. Plus the first 4 years of maintenance are already paid for.

I think you better research in the reliability of 335i
I heard a ton of ppl blew up their turbo or overheat the engine, often times only mild acceleration or normal driving

Ya, the 335i is blowing up all over the place. Blown turbos, blown head gaskets, blown o-rings. Horrible, avoid at all costs.

If i were you, i would get the E36 M3 and take it to DA Motorsports in Turkey.
They can mod it to 1100 HP for like 20 something k. Some engineer that used to work for BMW is building those. Check it out:

Been vacationing in Vermont. By vacation I mean opening camp, which is of course work...but you know, a different kind of work.

(oh btw, 1900km in two days on the 335i, 3600 over 7 days and the only thing I blew up was my wife's head... radar detectors are legal in NY State! )
