The Big Crash

Last night was Kart racing. Some idiot tried to pass me on the inside of a turn and lost control and spun out right in front of me. I had no time to react and hit him. I do not remember any of this but have been told I flipped end over end 3 times before smashing head first into the wall. I was out and my Kart was on top of me, the exhaust sitting against my left a$$ cheek. By the time the ambulance got the thing off me I had 3 degree burns. (Insert donut jokes here). My kart is a 15K rightoff. My shoes and helmet were destroyed. I hyper-extended my right leg, got a concussion, and scraped my left arm. With equipment, this was a very expensive accident caused by a seasoned racer who simply "can't" drive. This a$$ loses control at least once every race day. He pulled the same dumb a$$ stunt last week and hit a friend of mine, thankfully without the disasterous results. I am out for the season with injuries.

But all this and I feel lucky. Could have been so much worse. I was doing about 110 Kmh when I went airborne. And the real bitch of it, I can't remember anything after hitting the guy. I would post pics, but I have not seen my kart. I am told there is nothing left of it.

Schite!!!! I'm glad you're here telling us the tale!
That sounds like a wild incident.

Are there no friggin marshals???
Why does this bozo remain, at the peril of others?

+1......the guy should have been banned b4 now........ -- and you wouldn't be in this predicament...

It's too late for you and your buddy, but I hope he's kept off the track from now on.....

Glad you're ok, sortof, man........that's the main thing.......as you say, it could have been much worse......

About the cart: Maybe you don't want to see it......

If you do happen to take pics, would you post them for us?
Not to be morbid, but rather as some kind of lesson for us all as to what could happen.....

Colin.

Now that is funny. A stock market crash would have been a bigger pain in the a$$

I don't know what they will do with the other driver. He's an ok guy but after years of racing, he still does not understand racing lines. I think he thinks these should be painted on the course. Actually they are sort of with rubber marks. I guess the entire concept is a bit foreign to him.

Accidents are part of racing and cost wise, it's driver beware. I get to pay the tab. I am having a bit of a "Days of Thunder" moment though, not really feeling like climbing back on the horse right now.

There are mashalls but with 27 to 34 drivers in each heat, they can't see everything. My word against this guys. I will make sure to thank him, count on it. I am also going to suggest that he retires before he puts someone in a wheelchair or worse.

Ouch that sucks man! I'm glad to hear you weren't seriously hurt though man! Material things can be replaced, your health can't. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Wow, that's a heck of a shunt. Sorry to hear you are injured and that your kart is a write off.

Guys like you described shouldn't be allowed to be on that track with others if they have a history of regularly losing control.

Good luck with the recovery.

Glad you're able to talk about it. Speedy recovery bro. Just reading about that consistent a$$ole makes my blood boil. Seems it's usually the guy at fault that gets off easy
