Glad you're okay!

The heat from the close proximity to the engine in even those toy karts have always kinda nagged at me.

This is what we drive. These things do 130 kph and 3G turns. You need a flack jacket so you don't break your ribs on the corners. Your butt is 1" off the ground. These things feel very very fast.

Picture me flying through the air with the greatest of easy just before slamming into the wall. A couple of pics. One shows what the carts are like and the one with the bike shows the wall. Apparently I cleared the hay bales and hit the wall head on.

I hope you and your a$$ are feeling better. Gonna be a nice weekend, sit back (don't forget the donut) and sip some Big Rock. Cures anything. But seriously, take care, glad you are here to tell us about it.

damn... sorry to hear what happened. i understand everyone is racing to win... but overall it should still be viewed as a fun event with everyone's safety in mind... if only some people would think about this before their testosterone took over, it would make things all that more enjoyable.

i remember reading a group ride a bunch of guys did at a motorcycle forum i frequent. the ride turned to total chaos half way through... as some members believed they entered a motogp contest... they started passing other riders in the same lane at 160km/h and above. one person in another group ride that same day totaled his bike on some rocks and was lucky he escaped relatively unscaved himself. the guy understood how dumb and reckless it was afterwards... i just hate how common sense doesn't usually kick in 'till the deed is done.

strong wishes for a speedy recovery.

Couple of pics. #15 is the kart I hit. The guy had spun around backward and I hit his left side. It launched me like a rocket. My wheel went right up his radiator. Other pic is my cart. Bent frame, radiator is toast, rear bumper is wiped out. It is a right off.

Talked to the ambulance attendant this morning. He said he has been doing race night for 3 years and has never seen a car launched in the air like that before.

Sorry to see all the damage, Mark, but at least you're here to tell us all about it.....
Maybe that other guy will be invited to race by himself next time that's if you don't string him up first....

Hope you're feeling better soon.....

C.

I'm healing but I have a consult with a plastic surgeon on Tuesday for the 3rd degree burn. It may need a graft. Other stuff is coming along fine but I guess 3rd degree burns do not heal well.

As for the guy that caused this, he is one lucky sob. Viewing his wreck, I must have just barely missed his head with my front bumper when I climbed his cart. At the speed I was going, this would have surely broken his neck or worse.

Racing is a risk though. I have calmed down and although he is an idiot driver, I doubt he knew how stupid his inside pass was. I will have a discussion with him. Hopefully he has the right attitude. That would be best.

Thanks for the pics. Good luck with the recovery and making the other guy pay somehow.
