05 IP Sedan from Arizona

Lots of good details in the posts above.

Overall, the experience was pretty straight forward. Had the car shipped from Arizona by a company called AAA Transports-----pretty good deal for door to door delivery ---cost me only $1400 CAD---and they had it literally at my front door 5 days after picking the car up. I had them arrange a broker for me as well to deal with all the paper work and fees at the border---cost me another $120 for their service.

When it was all said and done, the car cost me $21K, with duties, taxes, shipping, certification and incidentals, the grand total came to just shy of $27K-----still a pretty good deal in my eyes.

Good Luck---let me know if you need any more details..

I hate to dig up an old thread, but just got my form 2 for my g35, and was wondering on a 2004 coupe, the only item i have to install is the drl module, and the infant restraints and other criteria listed on the form 2 are already on the vehicle?

Once Crappy Tire passes your inspection; you get a sticker you place in your door jab and your car can now be insured. A Crappy Tire Inspection is also ~$200 I think
Just two quick clarifications on Asad_A203's notes:

1. PST is due when you register the vehicle at the Ministry of Transportation (i.e. transfer or get new license plates). You can actually insure the vehicle right after you purchase it - even if it hasn't crossed the border yet. This is useful if you plan to drive it up yourself.

2. Canadian Tire will do the first inspection for free, that is actually a part of the RIV fee.

Definitely look at getting your car in the US. I brought a few G's up, and they pretty much all fell into the $30-$32K range all taxes/fees in.

Not to be nitpicky, but some Nissans are made in the USA. The Titan and Quest are actually manufactured in Mississippi. (I wish there was a nerd smiley, but this will have to do.)

I would have agreed with Karma on this one but I recently found out about the Titan/Armadas are USA built. its sad I just found out considering I am on my second Titan now. I may import an Armada for the Wifey soon and a few grand off wont hurt.

The module from Canadian Tire is fine. But if you're going to have them install it, make sure they properly tie up and hide the cables properly.

Alright, thanks for the info. I will just go pick up one of those then and get a friend to help me install it then set up my appointment for my federal inspection.

I used that module to wire mine, it works well and have had zero problems with it. I had crappy tire do the install that way the work is under warranty.

If you are doing the install on a 2007 and up sedan with push button start the installer told me to never play with the start button. ie. never try to start the car without the key in the car b/c it will blow the drl module and the vehicle will think that someone is trying to steal it and will not start.

Let me see if I can basically break this down for you with some assumptions:

Car price=25000USD

Assuming the doller is on par this does not mean the bank will give you a 1 for 1 ratio... they take their cut in about a 3-4% ratio

So 25000USD=26000CAN with 4% bank rate

26000 * (6.1% duty AND 5% GST (alberta has no PST)) 11.1% = $2860

Asume you pick up the car and don't transport it.
Air conditioning fee $100
RIV fee 195$
Daytime Running lights module = $35 assuming you install it yourself
Registration 25$

I'm thinking in the order of $29215 give or take a little.

I'm in the middle of importing an 04 so I'm going through this right now.

EDITED

If you live in Ontario, you'll have to add another 8% PST when you register the car (so add another $2,080 to the price).

^also the bank exchange rates have changed a lot in the past couple of days. Oil is declining so our dollar is losing it's value.
