Sorry to hear about the small acciden Kevin. I would agree with the others, I like the stock bumper better.

 

I was parked in the driveway of a guy I was working for. A lady backing out of her driveway managed to cross her driveway, and into his (about 20 feet diagonally) and hit my car. Interestingly he said, as she got into her spraypainted '95 maxima, that she was "the worst driver he'd ever seen". Now I know why.

 

Geesh, that's ironic. I don't want to sound sexist but what is it with woman drivers? Almost all the accidents we read about on here (including mine last year) were caused by a female driver.

 

My next door neighbour hasn't driven for 6 years because of a major one she caused.

 

definately OE, the aftermarket will shrivel.

 

sorry to hear what happened kev! if it still matters I vote OEM as well, that diffuser thing looks kinda weird. Are there any other after market options that you're considering?

 

Do I need to mention her ethnicity? I doubt it. Here's a funny for you guys; after she hit the car she got out and asked if there is any damage - there was of course, not a lot but definitely noticeable. A decent scuff, the plastic of the bumper had warped visibly, and one of the clips was broken. So I said yes, here is the damage, and she said "we'll get you some spray paint". I kid you not. You know though, I am fine with it - she got her husband who gave me their insurance info. Since the car is less than 12 months old I should be able to force the insurance to provide a brand new bumper rather than repair it.

That's the only one right now. I do have another question for you guys. I have an exhaust here now (I was going to put it on last week, glad I didnt!), and I could easily go quads and just cut the new bumper. I am positive the guy that does my work could make it OEM looking. So, quads or leave it alone? The aftermarket exhaust stock tips are 3.5" not rolled (as opposed to 3" rolled stock), so here is basically what it'd look like:

Single walled 3.5"


Quad (~73mm or 2.85" each)

 

Too funny about the spray paint. My car was 25 months old and front bumper was replaced because it was less $$ than a repair. (Actually was about the same but the insurance adjuster was a good guy. The bumper was warped and scuffed.

You keep trying on the mods. I would leave it alone.

 

Haha. I can't stop! If I stop modding the exterior I will just move to the engine, and that's a can of worms I'm afraid to open. I agree though, I am only lukewarm on quads anyway.

RE: the repair. Ya, it'll probably be similar to repair. Replace is $744 for the cover, $300 for paint... repair I have one estimate at $1150, so pretty close.

Ian - Rocco says he can cut the bumper to do quads, and is confident it'll look OEM. What do you think? I don't want to be M-poseurish but it does look good...
