I'm not to clear on the Ontario laws yet, just read a bunch of hype in the papers, but I was driving down Richmond Street off the DVP in Toronto, waiting at the lights near Parliament, when a traffic cop on foot, who was guarding a construction zone, actually walked up to a modded Integra with gauges on his A pillar. I didn't hear the conversation, but it looked like a stressful one, with the cop taping and pointing his finger in the direction of the gauges, and the driver putting his hands up in a "its nothing, seriously officer" look.

I know officers have to do their job, and street racing is a 'hot topic', but holy cows, this is a sad time for auto enthusiasts if this is the environment we have to live in.

If you ask me, things are getting to restrictive everywhere. I know policies are designed for safety and to safe lives, but lets be honest, when will it stop? I really don't think humans were made to live with that many rules, especially kids. Every time I see a teenager on a bike and he's wearing a bike helmet I have to shake my head. When I was 13, my buddies were taking our bmx bikes and skateboards, sans equipment, and jumping off of everything we could find. We all go hurt. I'm sure more than a few kids really got hurt or worse, but where's the fun in being a kid? I still remember, running home after school, running into the backyard, taking my bike as fast as I could to the park with my hockey stick and a pack of tennis ***** in the water bottle holder, biking down the street with one hand. The whole process took 2 seconds: Grab bike, start peddling even before sitting down (if you were sitting down at all), jump over things and peddle as hard as you could downhill.

I can't imagine strapping on a helmet, adjusting it fit, strapping on knee pads and wrist guards, and then going. Its just weird. They're kids for god sakes.

The only people I see on bikes without helmets and just riding around for fun are the local 25 year old drug dealer downtown. (I actually know a few because they'll bike up to me and go "hey bro... I got the stickiest ickiest of all, want some?") Its sad. Just freaking sad. I hate rules.

Sorry for the venting. I fly on a plane every week and I'm getting sick of the security ramp ups. I'm starting to abhor all rules and warning signs.

^ Can't disagree with that.

A little mutual respect and common sense would go a long way.

But with the booming population and all, people are bound to **** other people off. The politicians try to capitalize, the media jumps on board, "joe public" goes okay, and soon the GTA aint so Canadian anymore.

I was in Quebec over the long weekend... oh the beautiful silence.

the cops in toronto pull up to modded cars all the time, theyre called "ERASER" i think. had it happen to me a few years ago a couple of times. they hand out tickets and if you get caught racing or have enough things on your car to make it seem like your racing they will crush your car. it wont happen alot, but they have already crushed a few. i remember 2 years ago it was on the cover of the sun when they crushed a civic and a crx with a bulldozer because of that.

Thats tough though. Can you imagine a cop pulling up to your G and because you are dropped on a nice set of Volks and a decent lip/body kit they tell you they are going to crush your car. I think that the law is going to go overboard with this and cause for big problems between themselves and the general public.
