first off what year is your car that matters and there is no need to open the housing to change anything.

I'm a little confused on this too, the fog lights are the daytime running lights in Canada correct, but when you turn on the actual headlights are the DRL on as well, my headlamps are permanenty hazed pretty badly from previous owner using something abrasive on them and I can't even tell for sure lol but it seems like the DRL are on as well.

When you turn on your HID's, the daytime running lights are OFF. They will act as your "fog" lights when you activate the switch on the light stalk.

Try some Meguires PlastiX on your head light covers.

When the stalk is in Auto on my 03 Sedan the HID's are on at night but there is also some yellow or orange light output too, seems to be coming from a small wedge type bulb, that isn't the DRL is it or does that mean they are acting as fog lights as you mentioned? I tried plastic polish, I think the 3M stuff and Kevin tried wetsanding it and polishing them too when I had the car detailed by him but we couldn't get the haze out, could possibly be on the inside but I doubt it the way it looks.

I'd be careful when you choose the colour of your bulbs. I went for 8000k but because the fogs are not working at max output, they aren't as bright as I thought they were going to be.

Mike - Here's a bulb chart for the G.

Philips or GE 6000k are a great color/output combo. They are better than the cheap 6000k by far. You still loose a little bit compared to the 4300-5000k range but the color is great. If you want real output without bothering other drivers, look into a projector retrofit.

Can someone tell me a way to figure out if the normal low-beams are H1 bulbs or HID's without pulling out the fender lining and physically checking. Was it that the first gen 03s came with H1s and then 03.5 had HIDs? Thanks.
