Interesting new battery technology

So, you want to drop a few pounds?
PLUS lots of capacity.
This looks like interesting technology;

Could mean some extra trunk space for me.....

Voltphreaks

Voltphreaks 12 Volt car battery. This is the high capacity/high power version, and is compatible with all passenger cars and trucks. Almost double the Ah rating of the standard Voltphreaks battery. Replace your 12 volt lead-acid starter battery with this one and save 30 to 40 pounds! Current state of the art in battery technology (safe nano-phosphate lithium).

Standard lead-acids last 3 to 5 years before needing replacement. Lithium nano-tech batteries will last 5 to 10 years. Besides saving weight, you will have less voltage drop under load, for stronger cranks. Plus it's less affected by cold weather than a lead-acid battery. In testing, we've cold cranked a BMW M3 10+ times without any issues, then left the headlights on and radio blaring for 15 minutes, and then cranked again, and the car cranked same as before!

This battery does not have the thermal runaway issues of standard lithium batteries, and is much safer. In fact, it's way safer than the lead-acid battery currently in your car, and better for the environment too! Check out more information on nanophosphate lithium technology.

Because this battery is a lot smaller than standard lead-acids, you can screw or bolt mount using the mounting flanges. We used double-sided emblem tape to mount the battery in our personal car.

Our warranty and return policy
Refunds are allowed for ANY reason, doesn't crank your car, you don't like how it looks, you just wanted to try the battery out, etc. You just can't abuse the battery (running it over, putting it in a fire, etc). So feel safe in purchasing this battery, we are so sure you will like it that we don't expect many returns!

Definitely interesting stuff. That's incredibly small and powerful.

You get a double benefit saving weight and space.

Which battery are you currently running Ian? How many cold cranking amps? I was thinking of just finding the smallest battery for now in size for like $50 & just using it for the summer, I'm just hoping the lower cranking amps will be enough.

Still the OE battery, I haven't looked up the specs....
It's not likely worth the change for me.
I'd have to modify the trunk trim panels etc.
I'd only consider it if the car became a long term keeper.

Definitely a good lead Ian (pun intended... ), but not much time to take advantage of the 25% sale price......which finishes 24/7/07.....

Not a lot of time to research to get the sale price........
Are you going for this by tomorrow?

C.

I wouldn't change it since the M has the battery at the back already....

Finally, a battery with stock or better performance (CCA + life) and weight savings like a racing battery. However, the cost of having your cake and eating it too as almost $2,000?!

Other than an Optima red top that only saves 5 lbs is there any other option for us Canadians that can provide the best of both worlds?

18ahr? That's it? It has NO reserve capacity. I have a bigger battery in my lawnmower. My current battery (Optima 35) has is rated at 48ahr. Don't even think you can run your radio for more than about 20 minutes and still start your car.
