The new 2008 coupe is @ Sherway Gardens
hey guys...for those of you interested, the new coupe is on display at Sherway Gardens in the centre court of the mall. They have a 6MT silverstone coupe with graphite interior. This was my first time that I saw it in person, and was really hoping to change my mind about it.
Unfortunately, it doesn't get my vote for the new body style. The front bumper style and EXTRA soft lines makes the car look narrower than the sedan. The interior on the other hand is simply top notch and gets an A+ from me.
On a positive note, this car in a different colour, with a nice front bumper, lowered and a nice set of wheels will rock for sure. I'm sure it drives better than its predecessor as well. BTW, they had it side by side to a sedan and I must say the sedan looks 10X better.

I think it's pretty obvious Chico, that they're taking the edge off of the G35c & moving to more of a luxo market.
JMHO, but I suspect they're trying to capture some Lexus market share.

I still like the coupe altho it's shy 2 doors now for me, but compared to the new Sedan (which mirrors my M in so many ways), it's no contest........
Cheers

I also think the Z will move to an even more sporting focus, with a slightly smaller & lighter car.
This will effectively push the G & Z futher apart with less overlap.
Between the 2 brands, they'll appeal to a broader market sector.

There have been so many people who swap from 350z to G or vice versa

I checked it out today. I was hoping seeing it in person would change my mind. I checked it at most angles, even parked my car close to get perspective. Unfortunately it's a step backwards in design, imo. I still see G35 coupes and think they are stunning, but not this one.
Checked it out today:
My impressions:
- Interior fit and finish, quality of materials and even the 'feel' of the moving parts like the light/signal/windshield stalks was nothing short of a great. The only pet peeve I have, is on the passenger side, there's a sea of plastic, just textured plastic vinyl that somewhat reminded me of a GM car of the 80's. I wish they made some sort of interesting curve or maybe something to the focus away from just black plastic.
- Leather with the twotone stitching looked sharp and high quality. The seatbelt extenders however looked cheap.
- Steering wheel felt great. Chunky, and pleasant to hold. Steering wheel buttons felt high quality. The material on the steering wheel was perfect imo.
- Ergonomics, with the shifter, pedals and control felt super natural to me. I'm 6 feet tall, 200 lbs.
- Seats were bar none, amazing to sit in. I wish they had the battery connected to I could use the adjustments.
- Headlamps and taillamp details were very stylish and added great detail to the car. The car has the tech package, and when you look at all the details (rear view camera, the front radar hole, and the nav on the dash) it made the car look much more expensive than it really is.
- The Akebono 4 pots and the huge rotors looked cool, but unfortunately, not as cool as gold Brembos. Rims, in person, to me, did not look great. They looked heavy and clumsy, and overall not high quality. I think forged aftermarket would be the way to go.
- The ride height looks too high in pictures, but I think the car's stance was fine in the mall.
- All those curves they added to the car, did make the car look more muscular, although I still prefer the 03-04 with whale tail spoiler look.
- Back seats look smaller than mine. Headroom was probably the same.
- I need to drive the car before I decide on this.

As far as the 335i Coupe, I've seen a few around town and I'm falling in love....
hey.. i got to see the car at sherway yesterday while i was getting some pants hemmed. it doesn't look too bad... but it's nothing special either. the interior is night and day compared to mine.. but u can still see some of the old cheap looking switches and plastics like the seat heaters and region around it, not to mention they went back to the el cheapo seatbelt guide. the rear i thought looked great in person but the front of the car was just blah to me. too round and it looks like the car is smiling at me. i guess it's just a design your either going to like or hate. personally, i'm not a big fan of it.
