Burlington to Newmarket?

This is a post to the Ontario members - wifey, son, and I are in Burlington/T.O. to visit with the wife's relatives. Anyway, we're supposed to visit friends in Newmarket. If we weren't taking the toll 407, what's the best way to get to Newmarket from Burlington? We'll likely be driving during offpeak hours.

Our rental vehicle is a Trailblazer. Lots of room (especially when we are hauling 2 large suitcases and a stroller) but definitely makes me miss my Z, esp when I see all the sporty cars blasting down the QEW/Gardiner/427.

We drove through rush hour traffic to Toronto yesterday for a dinner function. Rush hour here makes rush hour in my hometown of Calgary feel like a walk in the park...!

if it is off rush hour take the QEW to the 403 then up to the 401 east about 20-25 mins towards the 404/DVP then north to newmarket. Sounds alot but it is all highway and off peak will be fast.

Here ya go ........
option 1
QEW -> 427 north -> 401 East -> 400 North to hwy #9 East right into Newmarket.

option 2
QEW -> 427 north -> 401 East -> 404 North to Newmarket (on East side of town)

option 3 would be QEW East to DVP (Don Valley Parkway), then go straight up north to Newmarket.

Thanks guys! I went with Ian's option 1 - there were some parts where traffic was heavy on the way there, but on the way back to Burlington it was pretty much smooth sailing, since we were going the opposite way than the long weekend traffic that was heading out of the GTA.

Next stop is to visit my folks and the wife's folks in Winnipeg, then it's back to Cowtown.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
